This is what I've been saying all along. :good

How the f*ck can you chase someone, why you don't even fight in their country or their weight class?

the ruiz win was better than all of joes wins combined. johhny was coming off 36 rounds with a still near prime evander and also just beat undefeated kirk johnson who himself would beat every hw today not named klitscho. roy was so great back in his prime he was instilled as a 2-1 favorite over ruiz.

    joe wouldve been a +1000

when joe went up to LHW he got floored by to 40somethings in round 1. If he went up to HW imagine what an extra 50 pound weight to those knockdowns would result in.

    Ruiz KO1 Joe Calzaghe.

basically joe has nowhere near the capabilities of rjj.

Its really silly that you back Joe for wanting to fight Roy even to the point of twisting his words in plain english to fit your anti Roy agenda..

but you don't give Roy credit for wanting to fight Tyson, even though he made multiple statements, won a world title at Tysons weight.. and entered negotioations that were much more serious than Jones-Calzaghe ever were. Roy wasn't just sitting at LHW saying he was tired of chasing Mike, he actually moved up and became to top contender. Joe never did that when Roy was prime.

    You are very biased Rico.

At the end of the day,

Roy Jones made more of an attempt to fight Tyson and Lewis than Calzaghe did to fight Roy. Not only did he enter negotiations, but he was holding a world championship at their weight... People were talking, as ridiculous as it may seem now with 20-20 hindsight..

The fights would have been much bigger too, with way more demand than Calzaghe-Jones..

It is a no brainer why Roy dismissed the option of dropping weight and fighting Joe overseas.

I don't think Calzaghe was running from a Jones fight, as the quotes might indicate. I also don't think he did what was needed to secure it, as the quotes would also indicate, as would history.

Joe seemed very much content to stay in his comfort zone, and unfortunately that comfort zone involved the weak competition comprising the wbo rankings.

I don't think Calzaghe would have run had a beast popped up in those rankings, nor vacated. Because it would have jived with his plan, which was to keep making money with as little risk involved as possible to his future money making endeavors. As has been mentioned previously, it was important to him to take care of his family, and I think that is what his quotes about wanting the crown jewels and not wanting tough fights support.

In short, I think he was reluctant to give up what he had in pursuit of the unknown.

    :lol::rofl:patsch

The ONLY fighter at Heavyweight that Roy entered negotiations with was Corrie Sanders where Rodney Berman and Murad Muhammad made a deal that was essentially the same as when he fought Ruiz the fight was to be at the Thomas & Mack Center on HBO PPV Roy was guaranteed 10 mil and Sanders was to make the bulk of his money off the PPV upside.

When presented the contract Roy changed his mind and backed out. There were plenty of fights for Roy to take at Heavyweight since he according to Loudon was going to stay there. Vitali Klitschko was his initial Mandatory and Roy got lucky because he took the Lewis fight and the WBA stripped his ranking. His next Mandatory was Tua which could have been on PPV and made money and then once King knew Jones wasn't going to fight at the weight again he had Ruiz inserted as the Mandatory against Rahman for the belt as he controlled both fighters but not Tua. Roy LOVED fighting his mandatory at Light Heavyweight. What changed at Heavyweight for him all the sudden not want to fight them? :huh

King's original plan was for the winners of Byrd-Holyfield and Ruiz-Jones to fight each other to unify the WBA & IBF so that person would have a better chance at fighting Lennox Lewis. Jones wanted no part of Chris Byrd who was a former Middleweight himself.

Jones wasn't going to ever fight anyone at Heavyweight but handpicked, slow, flat footed, no skills and hadn't had a KO in almost 5 years John Ruiz.

Jones wanted 50 mil for a Tyson fight and 100 mil for a Lewis fight. That is not even in the realm of possibility. 'Talking' to someone is NOT negotiating with them. You are believing Loudon's OPINION that he repeatedly keeps posting. Roy Jones was NEVER going to fight at Heavyweight except for perhaps the worst beltholder of the last 15 years. It was a perfect storm for Roy to move up and 'win' a trinket paper belt and call himself a 'Champion' which he wasn't because Lennox Lewis was THE champion.

False. He negotiated with and agreed to fight Evander Holyfield.

Um, nope. Never happened. He 'talked' with Holyfield who had a 25 mil fight with Lennox Lewis on the horizon so of course he said he wasn't interested. There were no negotiations. Then, years later Holyfield 'lost' to Ruiz so according to Loudon Jones had to fight Ruiz :rofl

I mean like it wasn't possible for Jones to fight THE real champion or the other beltholders like Byrd. He just had to fight Ruiz since he 'beat' Holyfield :rofl:patsch

This is only YOUR opinion.. And you hate Jones more than anyone on this board, so YOUR opinion should and will be taken lightly in regards to Jones..

Roy was very serious about fighting Tyson and Lewis, just because he asked for a ridiculous number is not PROOF that he had no intentions.... Either of those fighters could end his career with one punch, it makes sense that he would start high, you have no proof that he would not of come down, meaning it is not a FACT, but your biased hate filled OPINION.

Roy was not a HW, and it was obvious he wanted just one big fight before retirement.. I never said he had intentions of cleaning out the HW division.

My point still stands... Roy did much more to fight Lewis and Tyson than Joe did to fight prime Roy, who didn't even step up in his weight class. Arguing this would be foolish.
