Tony Jeffries dad made that one, and I think you are being a bit generous with your 'some real good boxers coming through' line, it's pretty grim really.

The North East could one day be a real challenger to other areas, but, it has a long way to go.

Lets get real here there are some domestic class prospects up who could very well end up winning a British title and perhaps fight for a European title. Thats where it ends for the time being as in my view there is not one single world class prospect in the area.
Does that mean there is no hope, of course not, because if TV through Boxnation and Sky TV get up here to televise the occasional show, then things could take off.

Before anyone says Bradley Saunders is a world class prospect, think again. He is being carefully matched to date and has yet to be let off his leash, he could very well do well for himself but if rumours and gossip are to be believed it leads to the question will things go to his head and does he live the life. I hope Saunders proves the gossip and rumours wrong because I keep getting told he could be the one to get the North East on the map. Glen Foot is another one who could do well but at this stage I think he is a little to easy to draw into a scrap and a little too easy to hit.

I dont like the slaggings of Steve Wraith. He is a bloke who has in one way or another dipped his hand in his pocket and tried his hand in the promotional stakes so give him a break.

Phil Jeffries is a top man, and whats more a man of his word, you could argue he is too nice to be a promoter if you believe in the phrase all promoters are ****s.

In summary the North East is a working progress and has some way to go to catch up with other areas, but that is no reason to give up.

Good luck with your fighters Foot fought Flinn at the Stadium of light last year & I asked a question earlier in the thread but no reply how did the show do numbers wise?

I believe they used one side of the ground could be wrong on that.

Glenn Foot certainly has something about him looks not only a good fighter but very driven & focused hopefully he get's his chance soon & makes the most of it.

I only want 50/50 fights now MOST OF MY BOXERS have had there learning fights if any of my boxers want easy fights they better of going with a different manager and promoter .Glenn served his time and he will box anyone now.

There is certainly the support all over the North east should you get a breakthrough fighter would be great for British boxing as well. The more shows of quality around the country the better.

Another Billy Hardy coming through would do.....or going back a bit Seaman Tommy Watson when they talk about the best UK fighters never to win a world title he gets overlooked should be high up the list.Lost on points to Kid Chocolate on points all time great fighter world title fight.

Foot you can tell won't shy away from any challenge that is for sure.:thumbsup

I've been to a few of your shows that Jon-Lewis has boxed on down Rainton Meadows. Great events. I'd say you have the best stable at the moment in the North East and I think Glenn Foot can go a long way under the tutelidge of David Binns.

Our pro scene has been one of the weakest in the country which is strange since we probably have the best amateur scene along with the North West.

Also am I right in thinking you own the Olympian amateur gym? heard there is a 2012 Cameroon representative there training. If true does he have any plans to go pro.

To add to my previous post, the North East needs to continue with putting on frequent shows.

In addition, and this is the hard bit, for the North East to make some headlines those fighters who are making some progression need to fight in the North East to increase the profile of the sport. If the fighters continually fight on undercards in the south I dont think the area will get the necessary PR it needs.

Regular, good quality shows and the progression will continue.

Yeah I have heard good things about him. I look forward to following his career.

I highley rate Dave Binns and Ronnie Rowe as well. I have always wanted a go at the pro game but only had 8 won 6 as an amateur plus one white collar bout. What sort of expierience do you think a boxer should turn over on?
