Jay Nady did a damn fine job of that Jones 'power' didn't keep Ruiz off him. Nady did. Ruiz was NOT allowed to use the Jab & Grab and it was the ONLY WBA title fight in which he was not allowed to use it. Kinda weird isn't it? He was allowed to use it against Holyfield, Rahman, Oquendo, Kirk Johnson, Golota, Toney, and Valuev. Why is that Mind Reader? :huh

Glass Jawed Roy started at 154lbs.. And at one point was rated #3 at HW and #1 at LHW at the same time... That is a fact, and it takes a special fighter to do that no matter how many times you post your bull****.. Iron Chinned Vitali will never be mentioned in the same sentence as Roy Jones in greatness..

He is known for getting stopped by Lewis and quitting against Byrd...:deal

Ironic, a fan of a steriod cheat who quits on his stool vs. a former MW, bashes Jones for being a steroid cheat and having no heart.

I have gone over this with you before..

Roy's ring generalship, ability to back up and hit Ruiz with power shots faster than he has ever seen... kept Ruiz off of him.

Many times Ruiz charged and Jones backed up tagging him without Jay Nady interfering.

Roy's hand and footspeed was something Holyfield, Rahaman ect... didn't have.

I think the larger point here is that it makes no sense whatsoever to criticize Jones (in defense of Calzaghe) for not following up on something that he started, while doing something Calzaghe would never, ever risk doing.

It's not necessarily a criticism of Calzaghe I'm aiming at either, 99% of pro fighters wouldn't try to do what Jones did. It was a tremendous challenge to climb all those weight divisions. But in defense of Calzaghe, who - let's face it- hardly took any risks, it sounds, just.............off.

Vitali took the big fight with Lennox. Just like Spinks fought Holmes and Byrd fought Ibeabuchi, Tua, both Klitschko's etc.

Jones has no Chin, no heart and no Plan B in a fight. None.

Why was Ruiz allowed to use the Jab & Grab against Holyfield, Rahman, Oquendo, Kirk Johnson, Golota, Toney, and Valuev? And not Jones? You didn't answer that part. Jones threw very few punches in the fight so don't act like he kept backing Ruiz up. Nady was a huge huge part in that. :deal

Calzaghe cleaned out a Division won all the belts fought his #1, #2, and #3 rated contenders then moved up to Light Heavyweight and fought and won against THE champion. And you have the nerve to say Jones who did NONE of those things took more risks? :huh

Jones never unified anywhere but Light Heavyweight and even then he avoided the #1 fighter in the Division then moved up to Heavyweight and handpicked a trinket beltholder instead of fighting THE Champion.

How is that taking risks? :huh Reluctant Roy took the path of least resistance every single time.

Come on Rico, do you honestly think holding court to wbo challengers for all those years, and finally unifying after almost a decade is more impressive and represents a greater challenge than jumping from mw to hw, winning titles, while beating world ranked contenders along the way? Even whilst disregarding the lhw unification situation.

Holyfield, a four-time heavyweight champion, wanted to fight WBA champ Roy Jones Jr., in December. Holyfield backed out of that deal because he was upset over a contract extension with promoter Don King in trying to make a fight with Jones. Holyfield turned down an expected purse of between $8 million and $10 million

HBO Pay-Per-View vice president Mark Taffet said work on a potential Jones-Holyfield bout slowed after both Jones and Lewis indicated a willingness to fight ...

Calzaghe won the WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine titles while beating the #1,#2, and #3 fighters in the process. What does it matter how long it took him to Unify? Jones never did it period and the WBA and IBF belt he had rightfully belonged to DM. He then moved up and fought THE Champion. Again, Jones didn't do that. The majority of the belts Jones won were vacant belts.

Jones took the path of least resistance his whole career. Didn't fight his biggest threat didn't move up to Heavyweight and fight THE Champion. How can you criticize Calzaghe for doing this even if it did take a little while to do it all? The fact is he did it.

because owning an unwanted title for 10 ten years means joe was only a valid world champion for about 6 months.

    that's pathetic

Funny, I thought that's what Jones did when he moved up to 168.
