You know, there are a couple websites maintained for Burley, one of them a myspace page. I'm wondering if his family is involved in either of these and if we may be able to contact them for films.

Great thread! I know what you are getting at but it so hard to define. My feeling is boxing is such a "rhythm" sport, and as you say boxers can achieve this rhythmic, balanced perfection with a variety of styles. Boxers like Ali, Robinson and Leonard; sluggers like Frazier and Olivares.

I have even seen footage of Liston hitting an opponent multiple times with full power shots on the move, something that is very hard to do. It might have been against Bethea, but I'm not 100% on that.

You hit on it with "rhythms". It's who imposes their rhythm and flow that wins the fight. I noticed something in Joe Calzaghe for instance. He always did a little dance before he got set. I always wondered why nobody attacked him just as he did it! I think it would have offset him totally!

Norton had this effect on Ali. His rhythm disrupted Ali's and as Futch said, Ali could never work it out! At it's best, boxing is truly fascinating. Thanks for this thread.

Is Ruben olivares a perfect example or the opposite of what you're talking about?

No, or I wouldn't have included him! Opinion respected, though. Watched a good example earlier; Ezzard Charles. Think I might be a little off what the OP said, but on similar lines.
