Also, El Fenómeno isn't just some bum (no pun) who got his title opportunity through publicity stunts. He was already ranked and positioned to contend before emerging from the closet last October. Since the setback of consecutive stoppage losses in 2009 and 2010 he went about rebuilding the right way, playing the sanctioning org system, capturing a minor belt and defending it and staying active. His performances on Telemundo have flown under the radar of the broader English-speaking audience here in the US but they have been solid performances against decent opposition - nobody special, but not tomato cans either.

He is no world beater and is the rightful underdog tonight but he is a good fighter and it won't be the biggest upset in the world if he pulls it off - especially with Salido being a very old and well-used 32 and coming off that beating at the hands of Mikey Garcia.

So curb the irrational hate, unless you're simply jealous of how fiercely he rocks those rainbow trunks. :gayfight
