A record with 48 wins 0 losses and 3 draws seems like an incredible resume, but just how good is Chris John. He has 18 title defenses and has held his belt for over 10 years, yet he is never brought up in p4p discussions, or even best current boxer discussions.

looking at his CV only a few names are familliar, so do some people think 'who has he really beaten' is he over protected or cherry picking his fights?

how do you think he would do against Salido, Daniel ponce de leon, Juan manuel lopez, abner mares on na other talented featherweights?

Overall what is everyones opinion about this little mentioned featherweight?

    He dominated Juan Marquez

JMM was so thoroughly dominated that he knew steroids wouldn't help so he never pursued a rematch.

This. He didn't learn after being schooled by the future HOF Freddie Norwood that he need to take PEDS to become a great fighter.

because he fights crap opponents and with 6 to 7 other belt holders in the division somehow never has unified the title with anyone else. not even in his own crappy WBA league where the super champ is supposed to fight the regular champ at some point...throw in wherever the hell the interim champ is too. he is satisfied making WBA defenses with their laughable list of top 10 guys.

An "0" almost always indicates a soft record. Once a fighter's "0" reaches the point where it becomes a marketing tool, it ends up hindering more fights than it encourages.

He's about as good as Ottke.

If Chris John fought in the states instead of in Asia, his record would be littered with losses.

John has called out marquez again and has called out opponents saying he wants to unify the division, is it a case of him being avoided, but also happy to be avoided?

You can't call out champions and expect them to come get robbed in Indonesia.

Chris has to be willing to fight in Vegas, but he knows he has a good chance of taking a loss here.

Marquez is scared to rematch Chris John because he was so thoroughly dominated and steroids won't have any effect

People need to stop with the Marquez was robbed campaign. He wasn't- it was a close fight which more impartial observers actually scored in favor of John.

certainly did himself no favors by staying protected in Indonesia. His record is somewhat hyped.
