naa not you mate, that was meant for anyone reading hence the separate paragraph.

going by his resume, Calzaghe only had the ability to make the jump to major titles in 2007, I think, is that right? Before that he NEVER displayed the ability to capture a major title. Corect me if I am wrong but he never DID it, so we cannot assume he at that moment the ability to do something until he does it.

I agree Joe was a late bloomer, compounded by the fact that he carried his olympian cardio into his thirties, plus developing alternative strategies.

Just imagine what Billy Conn or Bob Foster would have done to The Welsh Rabbit.:D

Joe couldn't beat John Ruiz with the help of the entire Welsh nation.

    No you wouldn't:lol:

Joe was scared to death of Glenn Johnson...a heavyweight would have caused him to soil himself in the ring.

lets see, moving up to LHW saw Calzaghe getting floored by old timers and run away from primes. So journeymen HWs are gonna ko calzgahe, hes too small to face them and not fast or accurate enough to compensate. Chin and recovery aren't going to avail you when you yielding 50 + pounds in weight.

You stupid idiot Toney beat him more convincingly than Roy did and Byrd was a former blown up Middleweight who stood in the pocket and traded with Vitali, Wlad twice, Ibeabuchi, McCline, Tua, Holyfield, etc and not only won the WBO and IBF belts but defended them.

Jones never did that and didn't have the balls to face any of those fighters. Get out of here with your delusional fan boy BS acting like Jones was the only person to do this. He wasn't.

And Jones DID NOT make history. He didn't fight Lennox Lewis so quit spouting that lie also :rofl:patsch

I dont really care about your assumptions here. Styles make fights, and I believe Joe would win a lopsided decision.

So Joe with Jay Nady as the referee doesn't have a chance to scurry around and pot shot and throw or land in the single digits in multiple rounds like Jones did?:rofl

You are putting way to much prestige into a worthless alphabet strap IMO. Plenty of fighters through history would have been favoured against Ruiz. It's not that big a deal.

for the last time I have only asked why Jones picked the weakest link at Heavyweight to fight AND why did he agree to a contract with Sanders and then pull out. Get that through your head. I NEVER said I wanted to see him against Byrd or Sanders.

You kept telling me he HAD to fight Ruiz because he beat Holyfield and that is 100% complete bull****. There was no mandate for him to face Ruiz. Jones could have fought ANY of the beltholders including THE champion Lennox Lewis. Ruiz was handpicked behind closed doors because he has no skills, no power, no footwork, no speed, no defense no nothing other than the Jab & Grab which was nullified for some reason by Jay Nady and not other referees. Got it?

Roy actually had the power to hurt Ruiz and make him cagey, a 230lb Ruiz would literally laugh at Joe's slaps, walk straight them as if they aren't even there and knock him out cold very early and very easily.

so how come no one else had done it?

If no one else has done it, it is history, Q.E.D. and by exact definition. How can you argue with an exact definition, that's what Rico does, not you. If you can accept that Calzaghe was the first to win all the SMW titles (albeit separately and not defending them) then you must understand what is history and what isn't. A first is a first, regardless of what happens later.

I am not denying that Ruiz wasn't a good title holder, he was one of the weakest theres been, but hes still a decent HW.
