You answered it now. And bingo!! You are correct! Despite staying at SMW for several years, he NEVER fought another top fighter after Toney!

I wish that HBO interview before the Bryant Brannon fight had not disappeared off the face of the earth..

It would be perfect for putting you in your place right now.

What will it show? That Spinks was drained at LHW?

Mind Reader lets play a little game for a second..........

Suppose Roy did what daddy Don King wanted him to do and fought Byrd (which was certainly a winnable fight for Roy). Say he won that would have made him WBA & IBF Heavyweight Champion. Say, in his next fight he fought Brewster who by then had beat Wlad for the WBO belt that Sanders dropped to take the Vitali fight. Say by some miracle Roy was able to skidaddle and run around the ring throwing 12 punches a round and pot shot a victory from Brewster making him WBA, IBF, WBO Heavyweight Champion.

Would you at that point be telling us that Roy was THE Heavyweight Champion or would you say he would have to unify and fight Vitali who at that time had the WBC belt. Furthermore what would Roy's chances have been in that fight and how big of an event do you think it would have been and what would you estimate it would sell on PPV? :think

And who the hell did Calzaghe fight during his WBO reign of terror?

Jones' win over Toney is better than anything Calzaghe ever did.

you are being a lying cnut now aren't you?

He fought toney in Nov 1994. His last fight at SMW was October 1996 and he was at LHW the next month. How does 1 year and 11 months at SMW constitute 'several years' at SMW? And I was actually rooting for your credibility but its just taken a nosedive.

granted he fought weak contenders, but that's because SMW was seen as weak, was full of nobodies, refugees from tough divisions and other such Ottkes and that's got to be why he set his sights on a traditional division surely less than 23 months after entering this one. Granted McCallum was no big deal at his age but it tops anything he could get at SMW except Dariuz in cheating Germany.

Jones biggest crime is that he tried to do too much really, that he couldn't fulfil all the divisions he went to in one human lifetime. followed by that steroid incident, which spoils his legacy.

no MW is going to try this, the only guy mad enough to was Byrd himself and he was more of a borderline LHW when young than a MW.

Are you writing the plot for the next Mission Impossible movie? Is Tom Cruise 'doing his own stunts' in it too?

His biggest crime was avoiding fights in every Division he fought in. He couldn't have fought EVERYONE of course but there were fights that could be made and we would have seen what he was really made of. Instead we got a watered down version that seemed uninterested in taking risks and fighting the best fighters available to him.

    Interesting..

I have to say It didn't happen, so I am not exactly sure on how I would have felt about it.. But since the departure of Lennox who wasn't beaten., I would say I would probably want Vitali and Roy to unify so a new line can be formed.

I have already proven to you that Roy cleaned out the majority of the LHW divison. And he did try to get DM to come to the US and fight. I have also highlighted the top fighters DM fought, there were not many, his intentions were pretty clear.

But Roy's body was never that of a true HW, like Byrd and Toney's, they both had higher fat %s.. Byrd only had a few fights at MW, he was a career HW.

Byrd also trimmed down to LHW, and didn't seem to be able to take punches that well... Why was that?

If you go back to 2003 that scenario isn't too far out of question it was possible. Not sure how much possible but it could have happened and would have made Roy untold millions while also making his ATG status go off the charts regardless of what happened if he were to fight Vitali.

My point is looking back (yes hindsight) was it really worth it for Roy to go back to Light Heavyweight and get KOed by Tarver and Johnson? :think

Had he fought Byrd and won and even if he was KOed by Brewster to me it would have been more of a "hey the guy gave it his best at Heavyweight" instead of people being critical of him getting sparked by Tarver and Johnson. I don't think many people would have held it against him if he was sparked by Brewster, Lennox, Tyson, or even one of the Klitschko's. And he would have made more money and probably would have been out of the sport so there would never have been a Green or Russian Popeye incident either...........
