    Watch this fight:

A 6"4 Bonecrusher Smith, with an unimpressive record of 19 - 5, easily hugs down Tyson in an awful 12 round clinchfest. Wait, wasn't young Tyson allegedly this untamable beast that you couldn't tie down, the monster that would easily knock out all taller fighters?

Yeah man, he hugged the **** outta him! A performance that couldn't be matched after all this time until The Ukranian Hugbot 3000 did it in 2013.

Bonecrusher would have beat both Clits and Frank Bruno would have knocked them both out too.

The 80's was a good era for heavyweights IMO.

You can't expect tyson fans to actually sit down and watch a fight, they only watch highlights of tyson blowing out tomato cans with rap music in the back ground.

wlad wouldnt have the balls to get that close to Tyson for hugging.

in anything approaching reality, wlad would have left Tyson to vits.

Bruno was a thunderous puncher, went in with Prime Tyson twice, Witherspoon and Crusher, rocked Lewis before getting KOed himself, he would have beat the Klits IMO.

    Bonecrusher a WC.

Good fighters from the 80's Tyson beat, the above, unbeaten Spinks, Berbick, Holmes (ATG, past his best but still a good fighter, went on a winning streak after the Tyson fight).

Big George Won back his title in that era too knocking out Moorer, it was a better era than people realise, Tyson ruled it.

A 19-5 Bonecrusher wouldn't even get a title shot today. That's how bad the 80s era was.

So where are the Tyson aficionados that kept telling us how young Tyson physically can not be tied down and how he's bobbin' and weavin' underneath the punches and hugs to land his thunderous uppercuts on 'taller' opponents like Bonecrusher, who was just 6"4 which wouldn't even be considered very tall by today's standards.

This guy is way better than prime Wladimir though, right?

I'm convinced after being on ESB that prime Tyson KO1 WALDO. I don't know why he didn't KO1 this guy, but he would still def KO WALDO.

Nobody thinks Tyson couldn't be stifled by clinching, problem is nobody beat Tyson just by tying him up. Tyson dominated Bonecrusher, the clinching simply prevented him from being stopped it never allowed him to control the fight, it was a survival tactic not a winning strategy.

Look at how Tyson beats him to the punch and all Bonecrusher does is clinch and even then because of Tyson's speed he often hits him before he can clinch.

Douglas, Lewis and Holyfield all used clinching as a part of their strategy to beat Tyson. But they also fought on the inside a lot with Tyson. They all knew they couldn't just outbox him from range, even a shot Tyson found his way inside Lewis jab regularly but then he would get hit with the uppercut and then clinched. If Douglas, Holyfied and Lewis only had the clinch they would have lost, you don't score points by clinching.
