I think Murray would beat Barker comfortably however Poxon doesnt have the inteligence or ability to ever put Martin in a position where Hearn / Barker would want to box him. Its all about risk /reward. I believe he has to take this fight to retain his international belt and ranking. Not sure why he would want to with Golovkin on the horizon. They should have got im in with Macklin - definite needle and would have boosted his profile. Sadly DiBell-end will bever agree to that either.
Wood is garbage but Murray needs to be careful as wood is an absolute grub who will foul and wrestle his way to victory, he gets away with his crap in Australia but would be DQ in any other country.
You know what Prowler, it might be no harm if Murray got a taste of his own medecine. He has been very lucky so far, using his size and huge arms to bulldoze and rough up smaller, injured opponents. Eg Sergio, Blackwell. When he met his physical match he was clearly beaten by Felix Sturm. Again he was lucky with the anti-Sturm judging, cos he clearly should have lost that fight. Murray has been lucky and is overrated. Not a great talent at all, actually a fairly limited basic boxer, just a big strong lumbering mulloker of a middleweight and lucky.
OOPs! Obviously I mean Sturm should have won by a wide unanimous decision there folks! (Or Murray should have LOST by ditto) !!
Hatton killing this guy's career, needs to get out of there. Murray is a loyal dude but he isn't getting any younger. Needs to be in meaningful fights.
Normally I wouldn't waste my time with a half-wit. But I will outline some FACTS for you ok? Murray fought a guy called nick Blackwell...a kid of around twenty at the time. Take a look at the fight...see the obvious size difference. Not to mention experience, maturity etc. (that's the bullying smaller guys part ok?) Murray fought Sergio. Sergio has multiple serious injuries in that fight and was only a shadow of his normal self. (That's the injured opponents part, ok?) Murray fought Sturm....a guy his own size and not injured. Sturm beat him clearly and should have won by wide unanimous decision. But Murray got the benefit of the anti Sturm feelings over the Macklin robbery previously. Murray has been living off the myth that he was 'robbed' against Sturm ever since. (That's the lucky bit, ok??.) The laugh of it all is that Macklin really DID beat Sturm, yet the fickle 'fans' now all pick Murray to beat Macklin!! In fact most 'fans' actually think mulloker Murray is "the best middleweight in Britain "!!!
I would just ask you to bear in mind what version of Sergio that was.....I don't want to knock Murray, just want accurate, balanced comments. He is a good basic boxer. His bulk, physique and tight guard will mean he is always hard to beat. But he is not particularly talented.
