Browsing around boxrec and spotted this guy. 12 wins, 10 kos in the middleweight division and he's only 22. Haven't seen him mentioned much around here. Anyone know much about him? Is he any good? He's fighting Alexandre Mexes (10 wins, 9 KOs) in October so sounds like he's been matched decently.
Etches had a martial arts background (kickboxing I think) before boxing & was working as a bouncer when he was very young, 18 iirc. Had a reasonable amateur career, lots of knockouts due to his power but he could be outboxed by classier operators. Etches has heavy hands, an aggressive style & works the body well. Since moving to the Ingle gym he's improved a lot & made some nice adjustments, especially defensively. He's a popular lad with a crowd pleasing style who sells lots of tickets. Hatton should've done more with him but it looks like his career is starting to progress.
Adam has returned to his old trainer: http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/boxing/bomber-quits-ingle-gym-for-dronfield-1-6068820 :good
Yeah - his old trainer is a nice lad but how many champions has he brought through. Sparring is very competitive at the Ingles gym and Adam was a long, long way from being top dog.
