It was an old, slow and a version of Lewis which didn't even train properly vs a prime Vitali Klitschko.

It was brutal, yes, Vitali was scoring on points (hurray!), but Lennox wasn't looking to win on points, he was mashing up Vitali's face.

Had the fight gone the 12 rounds, Vitali's eye would have gotten worse and there's no way he'd even be fighting today.

Lennox just smashed him, most real boxing fans know that it was a fair stoppage.

Lewis said in a recent interview that he didn't even train properly and he STILL won, he went on to say that's how much better he is. He truly was the last great heavyweight of recent years, funny that he gets mad respect 10 years later.

 

I thought exactly that when I watched the fight.Lennox didn't look that great but he was still able to bust him up pretty good.I remember Vitali having his moments.

 

Exactly. There's a reason Lewis dominated his era, he was just so adaptable, he wasn't even training for Vitali, Vitali was a replacement.

Vitali got spanked. Doesn't matter if he was winning on points, it's like Foreman-Moorer, Moorer was winning and one punch changed it all. That cut just could not go another 6 rounds. No way.

 

Spot on. What most Klitschko fans who cry about the stoppage fail to say is even if the fight had continued Vitali's eye was going to get much worse, he may have been ahead on points, but Lewis was starting to get the upper hand and would probably even stopped Vitali a few rounds later or definitely took over and won on points.

 

i love how people say vitali would of finished lewis, no his punches after a while were merely making lewis angry and giving him momentum. lewis was gaining montemum and landing more shots as it ended. his face would of been much worse by round 8, vitali looked tired as well what people forget.

And Vitali was running out of gas, any sane person would have known Vitali could not have carried on. Imagine what a prime Lewis would do?

What are you taking about?

In a 6 round fight Vitali won 4 rounds and Lewis 2, including the last round. So it was a one round swing in the sense that if Lewis had won the first round it would be 3-3. And Lederman had it 3-3 but of course he's not an official judge.

But the score will always be secondary to the damage inflicted in that fight, and Lewis clearly won on that level.

 

has lewis ever seen this thread or mentioned the tko6 thread publically. I wish he did, would make an awesome gif for this thread.
