Apologize in advance if this has been done before. I really need a census here. Ricky Hatton was an animal and had ferocious body shots. While he is no knockout artist he seems to punch pretty hard where do you guys rank his punching power?
Scale of 1-10 I'd just put him at about 7.5, but yeah, he could really dig to the body. Physically strong guy for the weight.
yeah I was about to say 7/10 as well. he was just non stop pressure and even though he wasn't the biggest puncher he put 100% of his body weight behind every punch-at least it appeared so.
I'd say 7/10. His shots carried a ton of authority, and what they lacked in snap and timing they made up for in explosion and intention; Ricky Hatton punched to hurt you. He hit hard enough to get the job done if he caught you right, and if he could, 12 rounds was more than enough time to abuse most fighters to a stoppage. The means his capacity to deal damage is very good.
he actually got his punch tested at some university...but really it was a meaningless test..they compared the force of his punch to other men (who don't box) of his own size and even bigger, and found he hit a **** load harder...no ****..lol.
Hatton could punch pretty good. If he caught you clean it wasn't gonna be a breeze to take, but at the same time he rarely sparked guys out with a single shot unless it was to the body. He hit hard enough to not let anyone walk through his punches. He managed to mark up Pacquiao and he wasn't doing too much landing in that short fight.
He was tremendously explosive and really aimed to punch straight through you when he went to the body. His shots to the head weren't so amazing, but still pretty snappy and damaging if he caught you right. Decent left hook. Seemed a lot better on his left than his right, though he was by no means a one-armed fighter. What made him devastating, especially early in his career, was his relentlessness and animal ferocity. He would just keep laying into you until you couldn't take it anymore. Many fighters couldn't. He was also very physically strong for the weight, which allowed him to manhandle you on the inside, and punch with full authority up close, where fighters usually lose a bit of leverage. In terms of where I'd rank him as a puncher, perhaps a seven overall and an eight for his left to the body.
Yeah I dont think Ricky gets the credit he deserves. Setting a pace like he did and throwing those body shots at all angles fighting in a telephone booth. He was really something too bad he gets remembered and judged for the end of his career more than anything against pac and may
7/10 is about right. He had a good left hook. It was very powerful to the body, and above average to the head, but he wasn't a devestating puncher by any means. Doesn't help that his right hand didn't offer much. He'd have ooked like a devestating puncher against Khan though.
Ricky Hatton should have fought Cotto. But he's lucky he didn't stay for Yuri Foreman he would be outbaxed badly. This content is protected
