Pardon me? Are you comparing Jones getting to 190+ pounds with very low percentage of fat and then dropping back to 175 in a short timespan (he waited until the last moment for another fight at heavyweight before agreeing to meet Tarver), to Foster fighting mostly mediocre opposition or plain tomato cans? Jones had no footwork whatever after he reduced to 175 pounds, it's obvious to anyone who is not close-minded. Jones looked like he was dog-tired before he even entered the ring with Tarver for the first time, weight-reduction was that severe for him. Add to that a video-interview with him many days before the bout where he already has a look of those men who are reducing 20 pounds and are at their last day before the weigh-in, when the effects of dehydration are most severe.

Your just comin off as a man with nothing but excuses for Roy!..You say Foster fought mediocre fighters when thats exactly what Jones spent his career doin..And then you wanna throw weight reduction in our face like Roy is the only fighter in the history of boxing to do that?...What the hell do you think Foster was doin when he was fighting at lhw and hw?....Get your head out of your ass son!

The AP in this case being one reporter - Jack Stevenson.
Three Albuquerque Journal reporters were Leroy Bearman - 145-145, Bart Rip - 146-145 Foster, and executive sports editor Maestas, 148-146 Ahumada. Obviously, Argentina newspapers were pretty much unanimous (the fight was internationally televised) in calling it a robbery.

Jones had about 6% of fat at slightly above 190 pounds, according to Mackie Shilston (I recall only Michael Jordan having lower ratio of fat when not dehydrated, 4% if I recall correctly). Dr. Margaret Goodman who did the pre-fight examination thought Jones' form was just phenomenal. Do you actually think Foster got 13 pounds of muscle (188 pounds the highest of his career) for Frazier fight only to get back to 174 three and a half months later? Or that Jones getting up to 193 is equal to Foster's going up to 180 vs Ali? 181 vs Folley, 183 for Terrell.

You may believe those numbers not, but to think that Foster's going up to heavyweight is equal to Jones getting to 193 and looking the way he did (muscles), we have nothing to talk about, I'm afraid.

For you a fat guy reducing from 190 to 170 may be equal to a bodybuilder reducing the same number of pounds. That's your problem, not mine. Au revoir.

Jones would not take this fight. Fosters range power and skills would cause Jones problems. Foster had a good jab too. Once cut Ali with it. I'd go with Foster via mid round KO.

KO mid round or later..I believe Fosters jab would be the deciding factor in this bout..

The idea is it was not just the judges who deemed this a close fight. AP scored it by one point for Foster. This was no robbery....just a close bout.

Hard to pick Jones in any H2H match up with other ATG's who could punch. Jones just doesn't have the Chin.

Not if your username is Senya.

Honestly though having been a member of this site for over a decade now I have not once and I do mean EVER seen a post on a thread where Senya has not found a way to formulate an argument where Roy Jones would ultimately come out the winner in any head to head match-up.

And this includes the likes of him facing someone like a prime Tyson and company at heavyweight, it is the highest exercise in futility to try and debate with him as he views Jones as a living god amongst mere mortals in boxing history and as someone who stands head an shoulders above every other fighter that has competed in the same weight divisions Roy did.

Oh and Foster by KO as far as this matchup is concerned, using the Tiger fight as a barometer as to how a fight versus Roy would play out is not a very good argument to put forth. Foster was not bothered by Tiger`s power and was allowing him to be the aggressor so that he can find that opening he needed to land the KO blow that knocked him out, had he been a more damaging puncher he would have used different tactics as he would do against someone like Roy for example.

Problem is that Roy's mediocre fighters were much better than Foster's mediocre fighters. Foster's resume is trash.

Jones actually beat people who could punch, unlike Foster who never beat a puncher in his career.
