FYI, when someone throws a jab, and you throw a right hand over it, that is called counterpunching. (Mayweather does this all the time), The check hook where you wait for you opponent to lunge, step back and let them run it the hook is a counterpunch. (Mayweather also does this all the time). Making a person miss then hitting them is counterpunching. I'm wondering from your assessment if you have ever watched a Mayweather fight.

 

They dont, youre right. where Marquez will take a punch to counter and Floyd would prefer to make you miss then counter. Also Floyd will Initiate the attack where Marquez will usually not. However they both possess high ring IQ, and the quick adjustments. Floyd just has better reflexes, Much more speed, and believe it or not more punching power.
