Groves has struggled and been put down in the past against nobodies. I also scored his fight against Degale, for Degale (for me it came down to the last round which James edged). I agree he has the speed/power/technique to bother Froch but then again, I thought Bute had more of exactly the same and had proven himself against harder opposition; we all know what happened there.... I think Froch looks to wear Groves down by his typical relentless pressure tactics. He'll eat a few bombs and lose a few rounds in the process but I think it's inevitable that he will eventually break Groves and either win by a late round TKO, or clean sweep the mid to late rounds to secure a clear points victory.
dont need it, once he catches him, groves reflexes will go and froch will beat him down in the 8-12th rounds, which may win him the fight, even if he doesnt ko him.
Many people seem to think Groves is going to get smashed. I think Groves can win it, but depends if he can keep away for 12 rounds, hopefully Groves on PTS
If Groves fights boring and boxes behind the jab, and uses plenty of head movement and remains on the back foot he could frustrate Froch. However, Froch will have I no doubts got under Groves skin even before the first bell rings and as soon as that happens its fight over in favour of Froch. People slate Booth on here, thats a mistake do not underestimate the positive influence he has over Groves and Haye. As soon as Groves left Booth for me he also left behind his chance to beat Froch.
I dont see it like this, you think Groves is a better boxer than Bute. When Froch hits him multiple times in flurrys i see Groves getting taken out.. I see this fight finished by the 5th.. Why does everyone underrate Froch's boxing skills is beyond me..
If Groves fights a cagey 'in and out' style, using the ring. He could cause Froch a lot of problems like Dirrell. I think it will be a competitive fight.
Couldn't disagree more with your opening comment after the Kessler fight Carl stopped loading up on shots all the time now he throws combos and tries to open guys up. Look at the AA fight, Johnson, Kessler 2 where he used the jab a lot. Yep groves has faster hands more fighters who face froch do. His footwork may be better but im not sure hes comfortable under pressure - look at the degale fight fought a good fight but it wasn't his natural game and de gale got to him more than once and landed good hard shots. Anderson again took the fight to him and hurt him Froch is elite, granite chin, Great stamina and will to win .There are some lingering doubts over Groves durability and how he reacts under fire I can see Groves winning the early rounds but once Froch starts to put him under pressure and closing the gap I can see him landing regularly if Groves keeps composed with his jab and right hand to keep Froch at range and is slick and avoid taking bombs he can defo win but I cant see that once Froch starts landing multiple shots I think we are going to see groves unravel
Froch has got this one. he's experienced at the very top level, and that will count. Groves will give it his all, but it won't be enough. he'll make it tough and competitive for Carl, and not give him an easy ride. but i see him being stopped late on after taking too much damage. hopefully he can come back from the loss because he is a talented and dangerous fighter. as someone said in an above post, Ward would be a better fit for Groves as he doesn't have the power or the mentality that a Froch has. the speed and power of Groves would come in full effect and allow him to stay on top. and with Ward's chin not being the best, i see a stoppage win for Groves. but after Carl has finished with him? who knows what he has left. hopefully he takes the good parts of the experience and moves on stronger with his career. but we shall see when the time comes. saying that though, it isn't beyond George to pull a win out of the bag. we've seen bigger upsets in the past. he has the tools. but will he have the right game plan? he can't go about it in the same way that he fought Degale, he has to bring more to the table. he's got to box as well as setting his feet to let the big shots go to deter Froch from coming forward so easily. he's got to make it uncomfortable. just boxing and moving will only encourage Froch to think he's scared. and if Froch feels he's scared, he'll do his usual demolition job on him. it's in Groves hands now. it's up to him how he goes about the job. but either way, i wish him luck.
