According to Steve Kim today, Andre Ward has refused to participate in the VADA testing. :-(

But props to Edwin Rodriguez - he's agreed to be tested by VADA, whether Ward participates or not. :good

Wladimir has never refused any kind of PED testing. He was requesting both the German and Russian testing for the fight with Povetkin, not just the Russian testing. There was some concern that Povetkin might be on something the Russian testing would ignore.

You can't sign a contract and then try to strong arm the A side into testing a month before the fight.

Ward had verbally agreed to participate in the VADA testing before the contract was signed.

They should have put it in writing and got his signature.

If it wasn't put in writing, it's a moot point.

Here is the thing... remember VADA ain't free, and they ain't offering free year round testings.... fighters have to pay for it. That is like over 10,000 grand easy.... just for a fight, imagine year round testing.

If they want fighters to take VADA, let VADA sponsor them for FREE, if not; then don't blast fighters via the media when they refuse to pay for that year round testing you know..

Just saying that there are two sides to the story.

Has Ward stated a reason why he would'nt test with Vada?

Personally I dont have a problem with it if what he refused was the full year round testing where they can show up at any time and test him whether he's contracted to fight or not.

I dont see where any fighter should be made to do that unless its established as a rule with the boxing orginizations.

Now if Ward is refusing it for a particular fight, then there's cause for suspicioun.

I wonder why he would refuse VADA considering that he works with Victor Conte who has ties with VADA. :think

But VADA testing for ONE fight isn't expensive.

Just speaking from my mentality, boxing is a mental game.

Rodriguez could have EASILY requested this BEFORE the contracts were signed and both camps would have shared the costs and get it done. Ward himself said that....

Rodriguez is asking for this AFTER THE FACT....

It's a mental game, and if Ward gives into his demands, it's all mind games... Round one to Rodriguez.

Not to mention, you can tell that Ward is a man who saves his money, and doesn't play games. Why on earth, would he sign with VADA just to please people.

Nonito Donaire = Paying for his VADA yearly tests
Bradley = Paying for his VADA yearly tests...

How is it that the moment a fighter refuses to sign their contract, Maxboxing always knows.... that is not cool either. I mean; if it's free, heek give me the darn tests lol but they ain't free.

Boxers have to pay the commisions, promoters, trainers, camp expenses....

I am all for testing, but if you want testing; get it before the fight, if not, then be quiet. (Speaking to Rodriguez)

If Ward does'nth have a problem with getting tested, does that mean he will do it?

Btw, over at the Scene its noted that a sponsor will pay for the testing. It would'nt come out of the fighters purses.

Very surprised by this, makes you wonder if Ward is using steroids or not?
