If this is true it really shows boxing in its true light.

Vitali and mayweather can sit on there titles for months but the lesser known fighter who isnt represented by one of the big promoters gets this? Shocking!!!

The Mexican opponent did write to the IBF arguing in their words "an unfair decision". Maybe the IBF agreed. Who knows.

The Hatfield bantamweight was mandated by the governing body to defend the title next month.

But reports suggest a failure to agree a defence against South African Vusi Malinga has led the IBF to strip McDonnell of the crown.

A statement from McDonnell is expected later today while the IBF has yet to confirm the decision.

    More to follow

Looks like the alleged split with Hobson takes another twist.

Losing your title in the ring bad enough at least you earn a living this leaves him on the sidelines & the cost financially & to his career massive.

Whoever advised Jamie McDonnell about his split with Hobson needs f ucking shooting, opponents and dates were also offered by Hobson but whoever advised him told him it was a better move to leave Hobson ...... it seems not!!!!

The smug twat from Brentwood is to blame for this. I wonder if he still wants a fighter with no belt.

    What a bollocks decision.

Vitali can go a year without defending, yet Jamie doesn't defend it for a few months and gets stripped? What utter tosh and such an unfair decision on a good lad who worked EXTREMELY hard to win the belt.

What's the matter, did the wrong guy win the belt? Were they wanting the belt to end up on an exciting Mexican with a great KO record rather than some unknown British kid?

Because honestly, I can't think of any other reason for such a dickheaded decision. Way to screw over a young, hard-working lad IBF!

    It's confirmed.

What an utter joke of a decision. Feel so bad for Jamie. An unknown, not given a chance against Julio Ceja. So much so that his match wasn't even televised. He ended up winning, shocking the world, achieving any boxers dream of winning a world title and proving people wrong and now this happens.

Screwed over by a bunch of wankers sat in a corporate boardroom. Hope they at least give him another shot.
