Don't you think it is important to be fair to Roy when comparing to Spinks.. As it would have been harder during Roy's time to become THE HW Champion?

 

I would have to go waaaaaaay back in time to find a Heavyweight Champion I would pick Spinks over. He was at the right place at the right time. Holmes was fading and there was nobody around to take advantage of it so Spinks gave it a go.

 

Probably. Spinks was just so damn awkward and Holmes was really worried about hurting Spinks I don't think he approached the first fight with the right mindset. I read a few articles on Sports Illustrated's online vault (yes they used to cover Boxing at one time ) leading up to the fight and Holmes thought the fight would have been a walk over. Holmes honestly wasn't the same after the Cooney fight it took a lot out of him mentally and physically preparing for that fight with all the stuff that was going on.

Here is a question what happens if Roy fought Spinks and Lewis fought Holmes and the two winners were to meet? I bet that question would get a lot of different outcomes if you asked Boxing people what they think would have been the result. Lots of possibilities for sure.

 

Spinks vs. Roy is a toss up for me.. I think there is a chance Roy could outpoint him, but Spinks certainly had the power to end Roy's night at any given second..

I would almost always take Lennox vs. Holmes, but Rahman proved that Lennox could be caught as well.

I would pick Lennox to beat all 3 of them.

 

You do know that Spinks strategically cut weight to LHW because of his low bodyfat right?

You do know that Shilstone purposely packed muscle on Spinks to fight at HW right? His body didn't just naturally swell up to HW.

I just thought I would point out I am correct, and I am not saying Spinks would shrink as he got older to "suddenly" swell up.
