It was a display of how clueless Ortiz really is. If you've decided to play hardball and rough your opponent up through questionable means, you don't stand there kissing his butt one minute later.

Even after Floyd threw the first punch, Ortiz just looked at Joe Cortez and left his hands hanging low.

Ortiz had already revealed he's not above injuring a guy that gave him his biggest payday ...no telling what else that creature had up his evil sleeve.

What was Floyd supposed to do...play sportsman with a DIRTY UNSTABLE individual that doesn't understand the concept?

Why give him Ortiz another headbutt opportunity...or lord knows what else.

You don't let a fool like that stick around...

I bet if Chavez or any other mexican reacted the same way to getting headbutted like that you wouldn't call it a bi.tch move.

Cortez was the one who ****ed up but I still thought it was still a pretty **** poor move by Floyd.

Ortiz acted like a ***** trying the headbutt but Floyd didn't need to take the cheapshot, he could have outboxed all night and not tarnished the win. He would have got props for rising above it from me anyway, not that that amounts to much.

Mayweather intentionally hit Ortiz on the break with KO intentions, bad sportmanship on his part as his victory is tainted over such nonsense.

He should'nt get DQ's however. You protect yourself at all times.
If you want to go by the letter of the book, technicallly time was in, but ref Joe Cortez did an awful job of calling time in.

A good ref gets between the fighter and loudly calls time in.
Cortez' actions to call time in were'nt clear, he hald assed it and its he who should have been DQ'd from the sport.

Literally no reason for it to of been called a DQ. Not very sportsman like of Floyd but he didn't do anything against the rules.

Boy was I glad I boycotted that fight and went to a pub. I would have been pissed if I had paid 60 bucks and it ended like that. As much as I hated the ending it was within the rules. I suppose you could try to argue the "deceptive" area, but I think you'd lose that argument. I think Cortez should have been dq'd. He handled that break very poorly. Where was his head at? What pisses me off the most about that fight is how it gets referenced and used as an example of Mayweather fights when it really proves nothing. Victor probably would have lost anyway, but it was a cheap shot and not equal to a true ko and we will never really know how a fair fight between the 2 would have ended.

Cortez was spaced out that night, he had no idea what he was doing, his face when he turned round and saw Ortiz on the deck was priceless.

They need to change the rules, clearly.

If a dirty fighter intentionally fouls his opponent, he should be given ample opportunity to hug, kiss and twerk on his opponent as long as he likes before the guy is allowed to hit him.

    It's only fair.
