I'm going with Meehan because he went the distance with a ton of good guys like Greb, Fulton, Dempsey, while Butterbean was dispatched by the ATG Mitchell Rose. Butterbean would outweigh him by 200 plus pounds and was explosive but I think Meehan could win 3-4 rounds out boxing The Bean once he got tired after 12 seconds.

Easy win for Meehan, he fought real fighters.

Say what you will about Meehan but he was a real fighter. He knew how to take care of himself inside the ropes. Hed win. Look at the guys he fought. He was facing real fighters, and not just over four rounds. The closest Butterbean ever came to fighting a real fighter was when he faced 52 year old Larry Holmes in Holmes' last fight... and lost.

How is it an advantage that Meehan fought past four? This is a four rounder, and The Bean specialized in that. What can Meehan do if Bean just goes crazy?

Meehan beat worldclass punchers like Jack Dempsey ,and Sam Langford over 4 rds, he also beat top men like Jeff Clark and drew with and went the distance with many top liners.
Remind us again who Butterbean ever beat?

I love that fat James Toney is looked at with awe but Meehan is compared to the beam ln.

Meehan is the GOAT of the 4 rounders. Butterbean was entertaining, but the original Fat Boy takes care of business.

    Mismatch.

Meehan could be a serious opponent for anybody in a four rounder.

You obviously aren't considering what could happen if The Bean just went carazy.

While many remember The Bean as some fat guy who loaded up a right hand, in his heyday he, in fact, was a svelte wrecking ball adorned in chef pants. When The Bean let his hands go, he let his hands go, and Wille don't want none of that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRwtFaSR1vM
