See I think you're making the assertion that when Floyd leans back, he's staying one place. He doest just lean his body, he then uses his feet to get of range (not all the time of course, hence why Shane was able to get to him) ... So say Pac throws a jab to gauge range and get floyd out of position.. You don't think THE GREATEST defensive boxer in this era will be looking for the straight left to follow? Also, in order to land the left, Pac is gonna have to lunge in as he has a shorter reach than Floyd... At that point Pac will be out of position... Counter shot coming in or Floyd has already moved away from range...

Pac does have a dynamite left hand, but he hasn't had a KO in awhile... Also, people say that Pac would have closed the show if he was in the ring rather than Shane that night.... Pac has had Marquez on ***** street MANY times and failed to close the show...

It's true. Ok there's Judah but Judah's been beat countless times before and shown his limitations. I could mention the first 4 rounds which Judah probably won, but that doesnt really matter because a fight is a 12 rounds. Point is, Mayweather's style (defensive counter-puncher, albeit a well-rounded one) relies on his eyes and reflexes - on his ability to see attacks coming, and respond to them instantaneously. Thing is, it is a lot harder to see and react when the punches are coming in faster, and defensive fighters struggle A LOT more from this than from come-forward slow but powerful fighters. I think Calzaghe v Hopkins shows this, as well as Jones v Toney. Floyd's best wins are against fighters much slower than him (Corrales, Canelo, 34yr old DLH).

With that said, I think Khan is the next good fight. I'd rather see the Pacquiao or Martinez fights actually, but being that that is what it is, Khan is the only person with TREMENDOUS and superior speed to trouble Floyd. Your body can't duck what your eyes cant see. Floyd would probably still beat him, but he'd have to do it on experience and offence, not counter punching, where he thrives.

I thought you said a good fighter . . . Zab was twice the fighter Khan is now when he fought Floyd and was starting to get embarrassed and lost his mind. Khan brings nothing besides a possible payday. I like Khan but he has to regroup and get away from that style Roach taught him that totally ignores defense. He has to beat some top level fighters to prove he is legit and fans might except him as an opponent for the p4p king

Hand speed is nothing when you're not able to get yourself into the right position to let those hands go. Skills pay the bills, and speed is only a tool, it's not a skill. Having skills is knowing how to maximize what tools you have, and Floyd is in a different stratosphere than Khan in that regard.

Look at Shane Mosley. People say he looked old against Mayweather, but in his previous fight with Margarito, who was slow and right in front of him, he looked like a million bucks and as fast as ever. Was he suddenly slower when he fought Floyd? No. Floyd didn't let him get into the right position to throw aside from that 2nd round.

The same thing would happen to Khan. Why? Because of Mayweather's impeccable sense of timing, distance, anticipation, his ring generalship/footwork, his counterpunching ability, in short, his SKILLS. Skills>speed all day

Khan has been KO'd more times than Judah.

Amir is a counterpuncher's dream...you must watch his fights with your eyes close.

"Ok there's Judah but Judah's been beat countless times..."

Yes, countless or 3 times at the time they fought.

"Point is, Mayweather's style (defensive counter-puncher, albeit a well-rounded one) relies on his eyes and reflexes - on his ability to see attacks coming..."

A moot point really as every fighter has a doctor clear them before a fight. I'm pretty sure all fighters rely on their eyes.

"Thing is, it is a lot harder to see and react when the punches are coming in faster, and defensive fighters struggle A LOT more from this than from come-forward slow but powerful fighters."

Im pretty sure that speed is an attribute that all fighters, regardless of style, would consider a challenge. All fighters struggle more with speedy fighters. Another reason why Mayweather is such a tough challenge. ;)

"Floyd's best wins are against fighters much slower than him (Corrales, Canelo, 34yr old DLH)."

Could that also be because Floyd is much faster than most of his opponents, or most fighters period?

"Floyd would probably still beat him, but he'd have to do it on experience and offence, not counter punching, where he thrives."

So experience/offense and counter punching are mutually exclusive in a boxing match. Im sorry but this is just dumb ****ery logic.

I agree that speed will give Floyd(like every other fighter) problems, but to say that he can not fight counter punching is not correct. Timing is the foil for speed. Khan can and will be hurt, and he will be timed. Danny Garcia timed the speed demon Khan, and it didn't end well.

And don't even start with the "Floyd doesn't hit hard enough", Mosley, Cotto, Ortiz, De la Hoya, were all hurt by Mayweather punches.

Yeah, because Mosley throws slow-ass telegraphed punches. Everybody knows that.
