Given modern training & conditioning, I could see that. But pluck him from 1940 and drop him in a ring with Wlad tomorrow, I think he would look small, weak and slow in relative terms. If Louis grew up in the US of today and trained from a young age with a modern coach and I'm sure he'd have the talent to compete with anybody. The only thing to consider is that he was around 197 Pounds in his prime so he'd be giving up nearly 50 Pounds of weight to the modern champs along with 4 inches of height.
other way round, put wlad and vitali in the 1920s and they will get koed fast and forgotten even faster they'd probably be referred to in one line of a newspaper - Russian Joe got koed in 1.
Louis would have the next best shot, but it's hard for me to pick a heavyweight vulnerable to straight rights as a favorite over Wlad, who has one of the best the division's ever seen.
YDKSAB awkward 70's Foreman would get pounded out Shavers was a can at HW, enough said Tyson would get hugged into submission and then KO'd only Ali would have a chance among those you mentioned
for someone who just wrote YDKSAB, its odd that you've written nothing about boxing in reply to a post full of boxing. why is that? please explain.
That's why these comparisons with fighters from 100 years ago make little sense. They're simply unfair. Modern day fighters have so many advantages over classic fighters the fights wouldn't even be competitive.
Dempsey proved ON FILM that he could beat a bigger, badder version of Wlad, that could take one hell of a beating. How would Wlad handle Williard for that matter? Williard would beat the hell outta Wlad. Anything Wlad threw, Williard could take and he's a more versatile fighter. He would beat the hell outta Wlad's body, back him up, and HIGHLIGHT reel knock him out. Throw in an old time ref and people in the crowd will be cheering as Wlad is laying on the ropes, attempting to drop to his hands and knees, as is his protocol, as Williard is beating him into submission. Eventually someone from the crowd would yell..."He's KILLING HIM!!!! Stop the fight!!!" Yes, Madballster, Williard would beat the **** outta Wlad.
[yt]aJkiwu_04dw[/yt] If time travel were possible, Dempsey wouldn't be more than a crude club fighter in today's world.
dempsey was twice the man wladimir is. you put dempsey on the steroids and human growth hormone wladimir is taking, oh boy watch out.
