Provo was like Foreman in there last night. He cut that ring off like he was a top 10 ATG. Best fight i seen all year.
Alvarado would have had to step into Provo to clinch, while in the southpaw stance. That would have put him directly into a liver shot and/or accidentally headbutt Provo with his eye.
Alvarado fancies himself as a boxer-something that he clearly isn't.He took away his biggest asset,aggresive brawling and toughness.He proved he is tough but relied way too much on his boxing"skills".
The plan was combo and move, but mike can't help himself about going to war. Especially in front of his fans and he was simply outgunned

This... There were several times when Ruslan caught to him and he kinda stood there...thinking... Once he realized his boxing strategy wasn't going to work he should've been more aggressive.
Alvarado's gameplan was to outbox Provodnikov by stick-and-move potshots. Basically he thought he could pull a Mayweather because he beat Prescott and Rios. People weren't giving Provodnikov enough credit going in. You could argue he deserved a draw against Bradley, and that was at 147. Bradley was competitive with Pacquiao and clearly beat Marquez, making him a p4p dude and clear number 2 at welter behind Floyd. Provodnikov looked like he was about to kill him at times. Alvarado is tough, hits decently hard, and is well-conditioned. He reminds me of Kermit Cintron, except tough. He's a late-starter who has to think his way through everything he does in there, and he doesn't have the unbreakable chin and indomitable will he's portrayed as having. He's only really beaten Rios, who got outboxed by Abril and pretty much everybody else before knocking them out. Rios is not that great of a fighter. Neither is Alvarado. Bradley is pretty good. Provodnikov is just about as good as Bradley if not better. After Manny brutalizes Rios they should do Manny/Bradley II, Provodnikov/Marquez, and Rios/Alvarado III.
He wen toe to toe with him in the first Roy d and got damn near beheaded, causing him to dance around for the next few rounds
He seemed to not have alot of snap on his shots. He also looked horrible with his lateral movement. In the end I give Provo his props for closing the gap and doing exactly what he said he would do and break Alvarado's will.
