Marciano floored in LaStarza I?

    Marciano's brother said Rock held him up at points in the fight so he could punish more in retaliation for claiming he won the first fight.

    Nicky Sylvester said the same thing but I really don't think so. It's just one of those things that fighters say. I think Rocky was working to a plan, slowly stepping up as the rounds wore on. He was not holding back when Roland was hurt.

    Did he hold back considerably in fight 1 after coming off the Vingo tragedy?

    I think he was afraid to punch through guys after that fight.

    In the filmed fights we have seen of him Rocky seemed to heave everything he had into his punches. Louis was defenceless and he still hit at him. Kockell was down and he was still letting go, same with Walcott. I think marciano was one of those fighters who could be thoughtful outside the ring but was totally into the zone during a fight.

    Rock held back Nothing in the rematch, except for a couple of nut-shots.
