In my opinion he looks a very different fighter to the one I have previously written about. Once upon a time I thought he was the real deal, and a genuine contender, but having watched him last night against Denis Bakhtov I thought he was very ordinary. He laboured for 5 rounds and looked very out of shape and disinterested, just went through the motions. In fact had Bakhtov not retired just as the 6th round started with a broken hand (giving Charr a TKO win), then perhaps, just perhaps Charr may have got a rude wake up call later in the fight. Charr won all but the first round of the fight, however he wasn't fighting a top class fighter. He needs to get himself back in shape and regain his focus if he is to get his career back on track and aim once again for another shot at a Klitschko. Perhaps he could take a leaf out of Chisora's book? Very disappointed... http://youtu.be/6sBZhmcFGGQ
I haven't seen Charr vs. Bakhtov yet but it sounds like it followed the exact script of Charr vs. Saglam - Manuel overlooked his opponent, came in bad shape, looked possibly in danger of losing an upset, and lucked out when his opponent injured themselves. That about the size of it?
That makes it 4 TKO wins in a row for Charr after the Vitali fight. He's staying busy and keeps stopping one ranked opponent after another. Impressive.
I don't understand why people would be surprised by this. He's always looked very poor to me and the only reason anyone ever talks about him is that some Klitschko or other panned his face in. Or is it a joke i'm not getting like that Valuev thing from a few years back?
Haye vs. Charr would have been a replay of the Baktov fight, except for a broken toe instead of a broken hand.
I think Diamond Boy Mania started out much like Sugar Niko Fever, but then at some point a lot of people started to wonder "Huh. :think Is there actually something here? I mean, relative to all the other surrounding riffraff..." - and the answer was maybe.
Had it been Haye in the ring with Charr last night, the fight wouldn't have lasted more than two rounds, Charr would have been KO'ed. Very disappointed...
