Most boxing fans trashed ortiz in that lopez figt after he broke he jaw in TWO different places suffered INTERNAL bleeding yet you give alvarado a pass. This shows boxing fans can;t be objective and let their hate get in the way.You guys hate ortiz and like alvarado that why your giving him a pass.

For the record i dont believe either are quitter i would do the same thing its just if you trash one guy you have to trash the other.

you make a good point. i was thinking about this last night and when i called Alvarado a quitter people didn't like what they heard. yet when Ortiz gets his jaw broke, it's inexcusable...

but given Ortiz's history, i think he's more obligated to fight through the pain to redeem himself..

I think it is hard to bash either fighter.

However Ortiz has a stigma because of the Maidana and IMO he quit in the Mayweather fight (I do not know why this is not spoken about more).

In contrast Alvarado has been in several tough wars in his last few fights. I like boxers showing heart but I don't mind if they quit due to fears about being permanently damaged and have no hope to win.

A fighter knows his body and if he is hurt to the point where he feels that he needs to stop then I applaud his decision. However, if he pulls that **** that Duran did with Leonard, now that's some bull.

Ortiz quit against Maidana was the worst. He quit because he got hit with some right hands and his eye was swelling.

The worst is when people say 'Ortiz is a bum he lost to Lopez' when if his jaw didnt get broken he woulda won

People bring up these fluke victories when they need to

armchair warriors who try to belittle real warriors that know when enough is enough are pathetic.

Alvarado is a tough dude.... him quitting means **** all.

Ortiz is a tough guy as well. People like to overlook the hellacious beating he was taking against Maidana, or the fact that had he continued with that jaw against lopez its possible he would haven't fought for a looooooong time to come.

Cracks me up the keyboard toughguys who like to point the finger at these guys for quitting.

    Morales
    Duran
    Vitali
    Tyson
    Chavez

All have known when enough is enough.... all some of the baddest dudes on the planet and most those guys have more heart and fire then most fighters out there.

It's the Maidana quit that has brought all this on Ortiz. Alverado got pummelled. He took it as far as he reasonably could, knowing he's finished. Ortiz was totally not finished for the Maidana fight. He was just "too young" to be taking such pain. The Lopez quit was entirely, entirely fine in my books. He would have been hella stupid to continue.

Duran didn't quit because he was hurt. Nothing was hurt on him but his pride.

True. But he still quit, and will be listed next to the rest of the greats who have.

Some of the greatest, meanest, and toughest fighters to ever live have quit before, for one reason or another.

ortiz , cotto, alvarado were either getting the sh.it beat out of them or had multiple knockdowns..... no shame in quitting after all that or late in a fight.
guys that should be crucified for quitting are guys like Rahman, Chavez Sr, Nate Campbell ect who were not even taking a beating but *****.ed out when they got a small cut just to quit without "quitting". Even BHOP quit against Dawson, no way was his shoulder hurt but he catches no sh.it because he was "fouled". someone like cotto who was bleeding out of every hole in his face gets the quitter label but not a guy like Rahman who shamelessly quit against Toney
