This. He never would have agreed to travel to Australia had the offer not been subtantially more than he made against Cano. Mosley, believe it or not, can still make 300k to 500k against almost any top 5 contender at WW or JMW. Therefore, from his perspective, why take on considerably more risk when he could have fought a higher profile opponent like Malignaggi for the same(if not more) money?
Shane is looking pathetic fighting for money and already slurring his words and shot to ****. What difference does it make, 500,000 to 1mill? At the end of the day, Jin Mosley will buttrape him with her strap on taking every ounce of that money, and even the shoddy belt that was likely on the line
It's hilarious that this joke Mundine is taking cheap shots at Mosley. Instead, he should be on his knees crying in happiness that Mosley decided to give him a shot in his own backyard.
It makes no sense to a loser like you, but to Mosley who's used to headlining major events it's a huge deal because his bills aren't nonexistent as yours.
My understanding is that Fenech is the only person who risked his own money, and that is the guaranteed 300k Shane is walking away with. Wharton hasn't produced a dime, AFAIK? :think
I predicted this would not come off well 2 weeks ago.It just made no sense(let alone dollars). The Aussies are not stupid to pay top buck for a couple of semi-retired Dudes "fighting" for some worthless belt. Mundine has finally being found wanting and to pay Shane a million bucks, despite his past honourable reputation, was simply insane. This is bad for Oz boxing and every US or foreign boxer being offered a fight there will be very wary from here on in.:deal
mosley made 650 against canelo. im not a big fan of saul but alvarez, from a health perspective, is at least five times the risk of mundine, if not more the 500 was never there nor would ever be and mosley and schaeffer did the right thing by walking these guys were never going to pay shane
Where is everyone getting that Mundine was some massive risk? He is as old as Shane, or near enough, is shot himself, and is coming off a far worse last performance than Shane's. Yes, it occurred two divisions higher and yes Mundine once competed at super middle whereas Mosley once competed down at lightweight - but they're not that far apart in size. Mundine is and for the last several years has been essentially a natural regular-sized super welter/middle, and Mosley for about that long has been a natural regular sized welter/super welter. Mosley would have been the puncher in the match-up. Mundine is hardly Golovkin. He is bigger, yes, but not 'dangerous' in the sense that Mosley could get hurt. If anything it would have been Mosley in pursuit with Mundine using every remaining vestige of his "slickness" to survive. Considering that even old Mosley was able to hurt Mayweather and Mundine isn't even 10% of the man whose style he bites in a poor emulation, the conclusion was almost foregone unless Mosley's aggression totally backslid from where it was for Cano. If they had gone through and he brought the same performance he brought to defeat Cano, even the current slightly undersized and worn thin version of Mosley would be too much for the Choc who lost Geale vs. Mundine II. (or any Choc, really) Mundine being a betting favorite was a lark. Were it not for the possibility of Mundine spoiling enough to last the distance to let judges' corruption set in, 11/10 on Mosley would've looked a steal. He was never going to lose a legitimate match to Mundine. Risk. The last time Mundine was a risk to anyone even remotely world class was in Geale I, three and a half years ago...and Geale was green and that was Mundine's last gasp. The subsequent eight opponents Mundine fought between 2009 and 2012, going 8-1 (3) in nine bouts - Mosley even on the slide would have moved up any time and quickly knocked out each of those people, effortlessly. This would not have been a bigger accomplishment than Cano. It was a step back in everything but 'name' value.
I read a tweet suggesting that part of the undercard at least - particularly Val Borg vs. Michael Correa, 10 rounds @ light welterweight - may still go ahead but at some other venue and obviously not on PPV. It was posted by I believe Borg's manager or something, seemed to have inside knowledge. Would it be wishful thinking for Bennett vs. Jaca and Carr vs. Awad to be salvaged too, and for it all to be televised or streamed via some outlet so those of us who had planned on getting an international boxing fix on Wednesday morning aren't left high and dry? :-D
Ive got a feeling Shane will be fighting bears at circuses in a few years. Never divorce Asian. Im suprised she didnt get his dick in the settlement.
Theres chat in another Aussie forum on another site that the undercard fighters actually had to pay to be on the card in the first place.. payin for the 'exposure' being the reason..... not sure if true or not but food for thought about how shitty this Vlad Warton's promotion was!!! for wat its worth as well i really do not believe any of the blame for this lies with Shane or Anthony.... Anthony seemed sincere and believeable at the press conference yesterday about genuinely wanting the fight. Anthony's team were not involved in the promotion of this fight as stated they were just the fighter in this situation and Vlad promised something he couldn't provide.. Am really hoping Choc can salvage the fight under his own Boxa Promotions!
