Tony Thompson said today he's well-rested and ready to return to the ring. He says although Deontay Wilder agreed to fight him via twitter and facebook, Wilder's over-protective manager said "NO WAY".
Its a good fight for Wilder he wont be able to end it quickly but I think he can end it middle rounds Although Thompson is tricky its a bad style matchup for him
Of course he wants to fight Wilder. It's an easy pay day. Tony knows that Wilder is a KO waiting to happen.
This is the kind of opponent Wilder ought to be facing around about now. The kid seriously needs to step up his level of competition.
:rofl hes still 42 years old. yes he is a risk. but if Wilder cant beat a guy like thompson at this point then who the hell can he beat? might as well quit. could you picture any up and coming heavyweight over the years after 30 fights not wanting to "risk it" on a 42 year old guy whos claim to fame is losing in to the heavyweight champ by KO 2 times? and coming off a 10 round loss? come on man..... 30 and 0 with 30 kos and they are scared? wtf?
I think this is a good fight, I don't like Wilder, Thompson is a decent fighter though. this is the right fight because they need to prove who is the best heavyweight in America, although I think even in the state that American boxing is in I think there is a few heavyweights who would beat wilder, he has already proved that you don't need much power to knock him down in the amateurs he got knocked out and he got knocked down by a journeyman professional at best. so I think Thompson will beat wilder with an early KO in the first 3 or 4 rounds 5 at most probably, as soon as Thompson catches wilder clean it will be all over, Thompson is to smart for wilder it is even more of a step up in class for wilder than it was for price and price got stopped twice although in the second fight he could of continued just like Harrison could of after been wind milled down by wilder, but price should of beaten Thompson and price was winning in both fights after the first couple of rounds but price's inexperience and Thompson's experience told when he caught price with a lucky/well timed punch under the ear (not on the chin as some people like to believe), I think price would of beaten Thompson in both fights had it not been for him been short on stamina and going a bit wild because he was over eager to prove himself in both fights. but Thompson will beat wilder because he will fight smart make wilder windmill, swing and miss and he will catch wilder with something big.
:deal he needs someone that's not gonna fall out when he touches them, He needs someone that'll be in his face all 10 rounds.
he should of been facing this kind of opposition 5-10 fights ago, but he didn't have much amateur experience and the amateur experience he had wasn't great getting knocked out.
Deontay Wilder is willing to fight anybody, anywhere, anytime. But sadly, his over-protective management is making him SEEM cowardly.
