If stopping one of the greatest fighters of all time while he was still at the top of his game at 29 years of age and commanding a top three P4P ranking isn't a great win...than I don't know what a great win would be.

Yep. The problem with the Cotto fight and damn near every other high profile Pacquiao fight is there is an asterisk attached to the W. The Barrera fight is the only one that comes to mind that doesn't have some type of blemish, IMO.

No doubt. Maybe the Pacquiao crowd had an argument to make back in '09 - but no way in hell do the *******s have an argument today.

fighting at fairs for groceries at 12-14, pac went to manila at age 14, homeless for 2 years until at 16, found a job that paid decent as a rust scraper where he can eat 2x a day, started training again in boxing, turned pro at 16.

60 amateur fights didn't happen...he's still very inexperienced even after 8 years and at the age of 23.

 

I think even worse than KTFO 6 was the loss to Marquez in the third bout (yes, that was a loss). Cuz for Marquez to do that in his second fight at welter...after he had looked somewhat fading against Diaz and Katsidis...that was shocking.

I distinctly recall all the buzz that was going on in this very forum about how Pacquiao was going to "destroy" Marquez and blah blah blah. The *******s were having one big circle jerk in the anticipation of their hero picking up where he left off in round one of the first fight and laying the Ole' man to rest. To my recollection it appeared like the general consensus was that Marquez wouldn't make it to the final bell.

I remember telling everyone who would listen that Marquez was gonna make Pacquaio look bad - which is *exactly* what happened.

The simple fact of the matter is Pacquiao was the most protected fighter in boxing and was on the decline. Nobody seemed to notice simply because Top Rank did a masterful job of matchmaking in Pacquiao's favor.

It also seemed like the general boxing audience had a short memory and forgot one of the golden rules in boxing - styles make fights. Juan will always be a problem for Manny.

 

He shut out the best of the great Mexican feathers - Marquez.

Look, Marquez, Pacquiao, Bradley are all competitive, but you saw what Mayweather did to Marquez. Marquez couldn't do a damn thing to Mayweather.

 

I didn't buy the hype, Canelo is too slow and so was Guerrero; although Mayweather beat them easier than I imagined it to be - that's a credit to Mayweather.

 

Floyd has influenced the sport more than Manny.

Look at all the fighters using his style.
