Relax mate, I know Oscar was past it. He came of a good win though, was strong at the weight and was by no means shot.

I think Barrera was slightly past his best, he was two years of his best win, been in two wars with Morales and been a pro for 14 years. Even so its great win for Pac. Calling him green is a bit odd though, he had like 40 fights or so before that, and won titles in two weight classes.

 

pac had no organized amateur boxing experience, other than buboy (who was never a boxer himself) pac had no real steady top trainer before roach and he was also only 23 when he fought barrera.

 

I know it was before his prime, he got better and more versatile later on. To call him green is not correct though, as I said, he had 40 or so pro fights and titles in two weight classes. Thats not green no matter how you put it, he was a full fledged pro and it would have had a fine career even had he retired then.

So here we go again... Of course you will get better with a good trainer, and yes amateur experience means a lot. But despite that he had managed to win 37 fights and won titles in two weight classes. A remarkeable achievement for someone without amateur experience and with no top trainer for sure. No argument there. But he was not green, he was a two weight class champion.

By the way: I'm not sure about this, but didnt he have like 60 amateur fights? I think he was on the Philippine national team.
