-I've seen the documentary and I'm not sure how you took that from it. Naz wasn't looking for a payday, he was looking for respect. He wanted Barrera for a long time and even gave up his title to finally make the fight. The official excuse from Steward and what the doc implies is that Naz was overconfident but its doubtful that was unique to the Barrera fight. Naz was always careless in the ring, but that left hand put the fear of god in his opponents.

In truth, Barrera brought a clever gameplan of constantly moving away Hamed's left and it paid off. Hamed still gave a great effort and never gave up, and was visibly distraught by the decision. This is not a man who you claim "did not care." Full credit to Barrera for taking on and beating one of the most feared and avoided punchers of the time.

-The term "Past Prime" is used to discredit. And there is nothing special that happened in 2001 that would lead one to the conclusion that Barrera lost something in the ring.

Eh, you are claiming his prime was after this fight. At any rate...

An ugly fight against a sub he knew nothing about is enough to make you discount the success he had afterwards that left him recognized witih Jones and Hopkins as the best boxer in the business?

Ha. 2 years from his best win. Do you wanna know how many years DLH was from his best win? Any guess? Believe me, his best win wasnt ATG Mayorga.

Apparently you do, since you are claming his prime was after this fight in 01.

    He fought Maurin in 99.

And bad nights happen, especially against subs. It would be a mistake not to consider the success after this fight that had him chasing Jones and Hopkins for the #1 P4P spot.

Many things happen in boxing that arent "supposed to". If you dont prepare adequately for an opponent, you can be surprised, no matter who you are. This isnt very difficult to comprehend.

Irrelevant as fcuk. Im talking about Barrera and you reply to me talking about another man, DLH. Reading comprehension is particularly poor with this one.

It was his accomplishments above 122 that put him on the map as one of the world's elite fighters. The wins over Sanchez, Morales, & Hamed.

Even after Pac, he had excellent wins over Ayala and Morales III.

The Rocky Juraz fights is the point you can see Barrera finally sliding. Still a hell of a fighter but you can put the "past it" stigma safely on him at this point.
