Obviously Greb. It would take Floyd, good as he is,far more time than he has left to overhaul the 'Human Windmill' in terms of resume.

But a fair few of the guys he beat were on film. He was the only fighter to beat
Gene Tunney who's on plenty of film and who fought in the modern style. I think it is safe to say studying that film and his resume Tunney was a very good fighter. He is only one example but seeing as he beat Jack Dempsey twice and the Greb loss was the only one of his career it should give some guide of Grebs' capabilities

He was a middleweight that fought all comers, including heavyweights. You're seriously entertaining the thought that in the entire world, there were no skilled fighters?

    1) Floyd's career isn't finished yet we don't know what challenges he faces next. So we have to reserve judgement.

    2) Harry Greb has a record that is seemingly insurmountable due largely in part to the boxing environment that existed back then compared to now. Even still his record lists quite few HOF's so even if we didn't acknowledge the quantity and of his wins.

As it stands it's definitely Greb and I don't really see that changing but it's always fair to give the benefit of the doubt to a proven fighter like Floyd.

This is true. Mayweather beat Victor Ortiz, Greb beat Mickey Walker. Mayweather beat Canelo, Greb beat Gene Tunney. Mayweather beat Castillo, Greb beat Tommy Loughran. Mayweather beat Arturo Gatti, Greb beat Tommy and Mike Gibbons.
Yes, Mayweather has beaten by far the better fighters.:thumbsup

There's no film of Grebs fights. You're probably referring to a film of him messing around with a pal in sparring, which some people on here ridiculously use to form their opinion of his abilities.

I checked that sparring session out.

It is all we have of Superman in the ring. Why punish us for wanting to study it? He boxed for a living. Even if he was messing around there is more to be seen of his style than not. Like for instance...his stance, how he looked jabbing, how he moved, and how his footwork looked.

Even when I play spar with my son, I hold my guards close to normal and pivot like close to normal. I just do not move with aggression...only a suggestion. I believe Harry was working on something even if he was just playing. That is how most fighters think. BTW, I think they were "light-sparring" which is different than playing tag. Fighters do not put on gloves if we are act completely as a non-fighter. Add the fact that he was being filmed. It is not like someone bought their I-Phone. This film was a big deal to see how Harry trained and moved. I think you do yourself harm by not resisting the urge to be cynical but, rather being thank for the little film we have.

Hello. BTW, this thread at best is rhetorical.

:nonono:nonono:nononoNo, No, Noooo!!!! Do not trade wits with this man, Do NOT trade wits with this man, Do not trade wits with this man! [It would be like slugging it out with Shavers when you have 24 ounce gloves while Earnie wears brass knuckles.]

Now, anybody who's witless, feel free, because like an ugly person, you have nothing left to lose against BE.

when it's all done floyd ranks higher.floyd could probably be top 5 ATG.greb TOP 5-10.

and don't say i'm wrong.Hopkins rates floyd already TOP 3.and there is many other pro boxers who rates floyd as one of the greatest.

how many other LW'S you got in the history of boxing who are dominating the game at 147-154 at ****ing 36years old.and think about when floyd retires he could be undefeated almost 20 years!let me say again 20years!that's amazing feat, you can twist and turn it as much you want.that FACT will never change.

    20years!undefeated!

I'm told I once went toe to toe with BE, and have seen the posts to prove it, but I don't recall any of it. Reading that early attempt to foolishly exchange with BE, I felt like Gene Fullmer must feel when he sees the footage of Robinson knocking him out. [Thankfully, there was that great ESB crash of 2007, and later the deletion of the Lounge to permanently erase the evidence of my embarrassing annihilation at BE's ruthlessly lethal keyboarding fingertips.]
