2013 AIBA World Boxing Championships - Online for boxing fans

7 golds+1 silver. Besides Kazakhstan gets always at least 1 gold from each Olympics (3 Barker cup award since 1991).
Coming back to this championship I saw only two bouts where Kazakh boxer fought in tie...but other fights they won clearly. Ukraine also shot suddenly only in the last Olympics and World champs...

Has anyone else noticed during these Games, that the change in rules regarding headgear has resulted in alot of fighters being cut an bleeding?!


So far I've seen the Russian-Irish 81kg fight being stopped due to cuts, another Ukrainian Heavyweight got a cut and Paddy Barns from Ireland got split open and bruised during his bout.
This is the 1st major tournament without headgear and Its obvious the wear and tear from multiple bouts is starting to affect the boxers as they progress into the finals.
I hope AIBA does something to address this, its going to get worse..

 

Also in 75 k Uzbek boxer got series cut against Russian boxer in this tournament...

 

was it fair? Ramirez is a beast and I had him a shoe in for Gold.

 

Is Niyazymbetov participating this year ? ( i haven't followed much of the competition )

 

Ramirez was too passive in the beginning. He usually is but he in the past he could turn it around with the old scoring system. Not so easy now. i though he won but it was close. He is also the better boxer of the two so he should blame himself.

 

Joe Ward looks like a great potential, considering he's only 19. Ward vs la Cruz is next, the Cuban is the defending champ, it should be a great fight.

I'm disappointed Roniel Iglesias isn't participating for Cuba. Does anyone have some recent news on him? He's the best light welter in world and Cubans suspended him for "indiscipline". The replacement is Toledo who moved up a class. He passed through to the semis, hopefully he can get the gold, but I'm still disappointed Roniel isn't there.

Not a fan of the new scoring system though.

We've got one now - Fowler had to withdraw because of a hand injury.

 

The main reason probably is that the tourney is held in another country. :yep

 

They can't buy results there , they need the next Championships to be staged in the UK so they can win again . Lol

 

He reminds me of the amateur GGG in that he has that baby face but just a ruthless wrecking ball machine.
No need for him to turn pro until after Rio though. He will be 21 and perfectly experienced by then.
