Golovkin is coming along just fine. His level of comp is better than it's given credit for. You'll see him in big fights within the next year.
He's becoming HBO's biggest thing. So fights will be handed onto him, with the exception of Quillin the coward.
When will others step up and face him? Macklin beat Sturm and was robbed in Germany, he put in a good performance vs Martinez (was ahead at halfway until he tired) but GGG destroyed him in 3.
This appears to be the plan. Certainly they've been looking for the big fights at MW, but with KId C, Maravilla, JCC jr and even Murray unavailable there ain't much left. There's hopes for Murray (as a mando) early next year, Maravilla possibly later on, and then hopefully Froch - at least that's what HBO are after. It's worth remembering that Maravilla was 35 and had been fighting 13 years before he gained his first World title. As with GGG, a big part of this was due to poor promotion, but I think GGGs on track to be achieving big thinks through 2014.
i personally think its hard for him to get any good fights at that weight...they all know he represents a risk, these days when you become a champ and got something to loose you dont take risks...hence the reason it was hard for stevenson to get fights at 168, so he moved up and got his shot... GGG needs to do the same, if he moves up there is alot more fights for him because these bigger guys will this his power is negligable at the bigger weight... he needs to move up if GGG does not move up and continues to face b level fighters at this weight, he will decline in skill, power, and speed and be past prime when he does decide to make a move

He does need to start fighting the top guys. I'd like to see him fight Martinez if Martinez doesn't fight Cotto first. He really needs to step it up for me to take him seriously. Until that time when he proves himself against top level competition, he's just another Edison Miranda in my book.
his hype does well exceed his resume but the dude clearly has the skill to hang with anyone at mw. martinez is out and junior is a fuxking mess. thought i read somewhere he'd have to fight murray once murray takes out wood. would be a good scrap
