...like a boss. Armstrong (or rather, "Ohm-Sgt 'wan") is among the few Teddy Atlas rant subjects on which he is generally 100% on point.
I'm not a Calzaghe fan, but the guy deserves a mention here, the Ring recognized him as 168-pound and 175-pound champ after he (kind of) beat Hopkins. Mayweather is right now recognized as linear WW and JMW champ. Ray Leonard once won a fight for which a SMW and LHW belt was at stake at the same time, but since that fight was fought at 168, i've never felt like that one should really be recognized. Can't think of any other ones at the moment. But usually a fighter has to relinquish his title in one weight class if he wins the title in another one.
You know what's odd though? Armstrong is recognized as a top-10 ATG by pretty much everybody, mainly for winning world titles from featherweight up to welterweight, yet Floyd Mayweather, who won the linear title from SUPERfeatherweight up to SUPERwelterweight (notice any similarity there?) still struggles to get the same recognition.
I blame the ring names. "Hammerin' Hank" simply commands more respect than "Pretty Boy". (and certainly more than "Money" :-() ...so does Homicide Hank, for that matter. (which I think is actually his more well-known ring name but for some reason I always think of him as "Hammerin' Hank" by defaeult instead...)
