UK is much worse for shady officiating than Germany

I just witnessed another robbery in the UK, Brian Rose being given a gift over Javier Francisco Maciel. :-(

There's been a lot of shady officiating in the UK this year: Dereck Chisora received early stoppages against Malik Scott and Edmund Gerber. Raymundo Beltran clearly beat Ricky Burns, but somehow Burns kept his title with a draw.

And lets not forget the 2012 Olympics, with Savon and Khytrov being robbed in favor of the British boxer.

In Germany, in Jack Culcay's last fight he lost a decision. Daniel Geale has a couple of wins in Germany in close fights against Sebastian Sylvester and Felix Sturm.

Things may have been different years ago, people always bring up Ottke-Reid. But right now, UK is much worse than Germany for shady home officiating. Although there's bad decisions everywhere, the worst home officiating I've seen in the world this year has been in the UK.

Close but clear. Not scoring that for Maciel is ineptitude at best.

    Shady officiating ruins the sport.

Maciel prepared well for the fight, came halfway around the world, put in a big effort and won the fight that was supposed to lead to a world title shot.

    Then he gets robbed.

No robbery. It was close and a split decision.

He gets 'robbed' in your opinion - to everyone else who isn't soft in the head the fact that it was a close fight kind of leads you to the conclusion it could have gone either way - so how the hell can that been deemed a 'robbery'? Get a grip.

have you not been watching American boxing then? it looks like you haven't.

i scored it to Marciel 116-112. it was a robbery. no doubt about it. i hope Rose gets taken out in his next fight.

but some of the other stuff you're talking about is complete crap.

Chisora beat both of those guys fairly.

though Beltran did win his fight. but they are having a rematch to sort it out.

other than the Savon fight, Joshua won over the rest in the tournament. they weren't home town refs. it was the bloody Olympics, they're international judges.

the Germans are still very bad at home town decisions. the Yanks though, are still top of the list. the Brits don't come anywhere near to those two nations. :good

I'm glad people agree with this. I was watching it at the pub and had Rose down 8 rounds to one, the commentary was not on but then they had Rose up at this point. In the end I gave Rose two or three rounds, the decision was a complete disgrace.

During the weekend, Alex Leapai won a fair decision on the judges cards in Germany...

While George Groves was the victim of a early stoppage in the UK.

English officiating is the main reason why Joe Calzaghe retired undefeated.
In England, the refs are as drunk as the spectators.

Hopefully the scrutiny brought on by the episode in Manchester will keep the Sturm v barker officials honest. Hopefully......!!!!!

The rose fight was a "What You Like Fight" Could have gone either way depending...Mailk Scott Stoppage was a disgrace. Didnt see anything wrong with the Gerber stoppage at all he didnt exactly protest he seemed more relieved than anything. Burns was terrible scoring.

But on a whole yes British officials are crap
