Haaa. Awards given by the BWAA are amongst the most prestigious in all of boxing. Pacquiao has won 3 fighter of the year awards (Floyd has won 1) and also the fighter of the decade. It's only 'worthless' to you because your favourite fighter lost, but in the boxing world it is as big as they come.
Er, no. Roy Jones ruled 1990-1999, and won the award. Pacquiao ruled 2000-2009 and won his award. There's no space for Floyd in this super-elite circle.

he gets respect because he has a very easy style to watch. his 8th title is the biggest hunk of **** i have yet to hear a die hard pac fan even defend it.. fighting marg coming off a brutal KO loss and a 1 year + ban from boxing which put an asterisk over his entire career at a weight he was not ranked at and at a catchweight of 150. floyds fought the best options he could (remember arum would not let cotto fight him amongst a few others) the only reason you would give the title to pac and not floyd is because of floyds inactivity

Pac won it because he fought better comp. And was in more exciting fights hes great. But technically mayweather is the better fight does than mean he ranks higher all time for me i dont think so.
It's a clear win for Pacquiao and this award does carry significance. All the haters and *****s can deflect it but they are wishing that mayweather got that award. Pac won simply because he faced better comp. Secondly, the simple hard data numbers show why: Pacquiao fought 28 times in the decade..... Mayweather fought 19 time and Mayweather faked a retirement to duck prime fighters like a p.ussy. It was not a popularity contest. People who know boxing saw right through the bull**** of Mayweather and gave Manny the award.
