Hopkins said in his post fight interview that he can make 160.

Yes.... it would be a classic fight, some may say boring but what a fight it would be for Floyd.

I agree, a thousand times no. Mayweather is stretching himself just to fight at 154, the fact he fought Alvarez at a catchweight is proof enough of that. As for Hopkins, he leads a very spartan lifestyle now, and fights comfortably at 175, so for him to drop all the way down to 160, would be Christian Bale in "The Machinist" territory. Then if they DID fight at 160, Mayweather would surely win, and Hopkins would then blame being dehydrated and weakened by the core weight loss. It all adds up to a pointless carnival act. Besides, Hopkins is just making these noises to distract us all from the fact that he is ducking both Stevenson and Kovalev.

I believe Hopkins when he saids he can make 160. I know he wants to get paid but i also know he doesn't want to get embarrassed by a much smaller man. Maybe that's why he came in at 172.5 for his latest fight. He's 48 so he's naturally lost some muscle mass than say when he was 40 when he struggled to make 160.

mayweather couldn't make 160 even if he was soaking wet and wearing a jogging outfit covered in full body armor!

    would be

    1. boring fight
    2. mayweather gets no credit because "hopkins drained"
    3. floyd gets no credit for going to 160, people will just say HE WENT TO 160 (even though he will enter the ring as a welterweight) but he did not fight GGG? what a ducker
    4. fight is meaningless for hopkins he just wants a paycheck

Just for the build up and the event, not so much the fight itself.

We can watch Floyd beat up guys that we all know he can beat up and I'll watch just to see him fight, but I'd really like to see him try something more "out-of-the-box".

I mean wtf kind of strategy would these guys come up with to negate their opponent's respective advantages?

    It might be interesting.

Imo, neither of them risks much in terms of legacy as they are both already ATGs , both past their prime. Neither is likely to be badly hurt.

    So why not?
