Lou De Bella and HBO did NOT want Roy to fight Steve Collins at this time, after Frazier.

They wanted Roy to fight a unification against Reggie Johnson, and wanted Collins to fight Joe Calzaghe, with the winner potentially facing the Roy vs Reggie winner.

Collins went into camp to face Joe, but then he collapsed and he had to retire.

In the same year, Joe said "I'm not chasing Roy Jones. Be honest, Roy Jones is a good fighter, and I don't want tough fights."

HBO DIDN'T want the Collins fight. :good

They wanted Roy to unify against Reggie Johnson, which he did in his very next fight.

Where was Hopkins at that point in 1999?

He hadn't fought Vanderpool, Echols, Keith Holmes or Felix Trinidad at that point.

He'd recently fought Simon Brown and Robert Allen, and was at 160.

Roy was TWO weight divisions higher, looking to unify.

Another joke of a post from you.

The king of spin, who never allows for circumstances.

Look at the top 10 Jones beat at LHW, then look at the top 10 DM beat...

It is no wonder why everyone thought Roy was the best at the weight.:deal

Correct, and go an look at who Dariusz fought, after negotiations had broken down with Roy.

    You can see the intentions..

DM hid, and Roy damn near cleared out the entire top 10... The ring had Tarver rated over DM in 2002..

Not only did DM miss Roy, but a good chunk of the top 10 for multiple years.
