Spinks had fought a Holmes who was nowhere near the '80 Holmes. Cooney was hungover from alcohol and cocaine when Spinks fought him. Spinks was very overrated. What did Spinks do since? Holmes wasn't ready for the Tyson fight in '88 and nowhere near his '80 self. None of this is Tyson's fault, but put someone like a (top of their game)Tua or Lewis in there with him(Tyson) in '88 and then one could make a much better evaluation.

 

Douglas was more pissed at himself than hurt and was able to get up in time.

1. People spend vast proportions of their lives drinking, and smoking dope, without the adverse effects taking place until they are one hell of a lot older than 23, particularly when they haven't even indulged until they were 21, because their mentor ( Old Man Tomato ) watched them like a hawk.

2. Tyson was NOT on coke at that time ( which in any case gives a feeling of invincibility, NOT lethargy ) so that is pure bull****.

3. Plenty of fighters drank booze in the build up to big fights, and still came out victorious.

4. My point is quite simple. Tyson came up against a guy, who hit him back harder, faster, and more often than he hit the guy.

Yes it is a serious accusation. If you know the history of Don King and Tim Witherspoon you may have a better understanding of what happened. Witherspoon wanted out of his contract with King.

Tim has hinted that he threw that bout in interviews if not out right admitted it.
