It would be good for the sport if promoters had the HWs fight more regularly

None of these HWs are currently scheduled - why are the promoters and managers so slow to make the fights? There are many interesting matchups that could be made if they were willing to do it.

Yes, I agree. I think Vladimir Klitschko should fight at least 3 to 4 times per year. In the old days boxers would fight much more ofter, some even once per month...........

It's becoming more of a show business, rather than a sport. The fens are the losers. No wonder the HW has lost the interest of most of the fens.

The question isn't should the promoters fight them more regularly but rather do the fans want to see them "regularly" and in my own person opinion I don't think the desire amongst fans is that high.

There've been very few Heavyweights in the last couple of years that I've even wanted to see on a regular basis. I think the level of tolerance for Heavyweights is different especially in the United States.

In the United States if a Heavyweight isn't entertaining fans have absolutely no desire to watch him, which is one of the reason The Klitschko Brothers aren't very popular.

If the promoters had a Heavyweight who could make for some entertaining fights I think fighting him more often would only make sense. However, if he's someone that's going to bore us to death then its the promoter who's losing money but showing this guy so frequently.

It would be better for British boxing if David Haye were to fight regularly.

David Haye is the most exciting Boxer in the World today. He is 100-0 with 100 brutal and savage KO's in ESB fantasy fights. He is going to save the Heavyweight Division. It is guaranteed.

I agree. Politics and poor promotion are the biggest problems in the HW division today, not the lack of talent.

No. Fat, ****, lazy and boring HWs are the problem.

If there was demand to see those guys fight then they would fight, because it's a business and it's about money. But there's no demand.

...but the right HW fights. :good That is key.

Last weekend's tilt between Wilder and Firtha was a step in the right direction for Wilder's development on TV - we actually got to see him in with someone who stood up to him and chucked some leather and played some mind games, even though it was still not a huge threat and their mismatching became apparent before long. Most of all, it was fun - which is what televised heavyweight boxing needs to be. Guys like Kevin Johnson and to a lesser extent Malik Scott, even if they do have their heads properly in the game enough to attain success - aren't going to put US HW boxing (or HW boxing period in the mainstream US TV market) on the map again. Guys like Wilder and Mitchell, although less skilled, will.

This upcoming weekend's Abdusallamov vs. Perez is what there needs to be a lot more of. Evenly matched contests between semi-developed prospects risking their momentum (and zeroes if they still have 'em) in what in all probability will be a fan-pleasing blends of styles. Props to Main Events for making it happen, and for being instrumental during a pivotal stretch in the well-handled career of possible division savior Bryant Jennings...although they were never officially his actual promoter. (he began with Russel Peltz and recently signed with Gary Shaw)

Jennings is the sort of guy, if matched correctly and not left on the shelf, who can drum up interest in a dead division. Basically just keep him the hell away from Don King and we should be OK.

People want to see some of them like Bryant Jennings fight, but he's only had one fight in 2013.

Some if not most of the others I mentioned in the OP are fit and talented, like Bogdan Dinu. Most people have never heard of him, while we see big-bellied Nicolai Firtha on Showtime and then people get the impression heavyweights today are "fat, ****, lazy and boring".

I think it would be better for the sport if the HW did not fight at all.

Bogdan Dinu by his own choosing has no promoter, he was offered a deal by Interbox. He already has a successful career and isn't going to dedicate himself to boxing.

after they reach about 16 fights then they slow them down and hope to sit and wait for a free shot instead of being active and risking a loss. sad but true
