His jaw was not broken in the second round. Alis greatest attributes were his speed and boxing ability along with his toughness.
I have ZERO interest in what you think, or indeed what you think you SAW. I prefer to stick to the FACT that both Ali and his trainer CLAIMED his jaw was broken in the 2nd round. Fanboys opinions such as yours are totally worthless in comparison to those directly involved like the 2 aforementioned. I gratefully do NOT come from your country, and consequently don't live in a world of revisionist fantasy.
Correct. It was indeed a left hook from Norton in round 2 that broke his jaw, just the same as it was left hooks that put him down thrice from Banks, Cooper, and Joe. With the way he sloppily carried his right hand, he was indeed as you say susceptible to left hooks. Also as you say the guys heart and toughness were in fact his greatest attributes, and should be lauded. This revisionist garbage about the pre 67 version is boring to be quite honest. Most of it simply isn't true.
Foxy is another guy who has absolutely no idea what he or she is talking about. You state you believe Alis camp regarding when his jaw was broken but ignore Alis camp when they say the best Ali was never seen because of his exile from the sport. Frazier nor anyone else saw the best Ali.
If you watch the fight no attention whatsoever was given Alis jaw in-between rounds two and three...none. No indication whatsoever that anything was wrong with Alis jaw as he sat in-between those rounds...no signs of swelling of Alis jaw at that time whatsoever. The only time any visible effect was seen? Round 12 when a right hand not a hook brought blood from Alis mouth. Finally Ken Norton when asked right after the fight and until he died when he thought Alis jaw was broken always said...round 12.
I must say Houdini and the passage of time might be playing a part here, but I always thought it was early in the fight. I agree regarding the pre '67 version of Ali although his opposition wasn't as good as post '70 he was for me the besy heavyweight ever, and we possibly didn't see his absolute prime years. Having said that I have no problem with people favouring fighters likeLouis,Tyson,Holmes and Lewis over him because they're obviously great fighters in their own right. It's just some of the other names that's been mentioned on here to beat him like Valuev and McCall!
Tyson Holmes and Lewis would have little chance beating prime Ali. Again if Alis jaw was broken in round two the corner would be attending to it after round two. They didnt go near Alis jaw however bwtween rounds two and three.
Houdini is a revisionist fool who lives in his own world of fantasy and down right lies, he dksab. The first fight with Norton is on you tube for all to see including the post fight interview in the ring with Cosell. In it Howard clearly says " Ali can't speak, they are saying his jaw was broken in the 1st round " Houdini in his world of revisionist bull**** claims to know better than everyone in the ring that night, and state categorically that his jaw was broken in the 12th. The case for him knowing absolutely f,,k all about the reality of the situation rests.
From the books and videos I have watched. Prime Ali seems like some kind of a monster. Still think Prime Tyson would beat him.
Vinegar Hill = HOUDINI = Ali_ = solomon deeds = Stevie G or maybe there r actually 2 different ppl behind these 6 accounts so Bokaj can finally allow himself 2 post honestly which means that he no longer uses his main account 2 post about Ali. in addition 2 my 1st post in this thread Kirk Johnson, Al Cole, Larry Donald, Dannell Nicholson and Davarryl Williamson would have posed a very difficult task 4 Ali 2 overcome. Why? b/c he was an ordinary , less than basic boxer whom relied on 2 things: 1) survival skills @ all cost which was his style including cheating & fouling of course ____ and avoiding fighting until the opponent ran out of gas / legs / blood or just cut 2 much 2) criminal actions including loaded gloves , smelling salts , loosening of the ropes , possibly drugging his opponents , threatening the lives of his opponents by his followers , backers and handlers , bribing judges & referees , bribing opponents 2 loose and what not.
I only have one screen name. That's all I need. Once again I challenge you. Look at the video of the fight on YouTube and let everyone know all the attention Alis "broken jaw" was getting after round two. just watched it and his jaw was not touched. Ali opened and closed his mouth around his mouth piece without issue at the start and end of his minutes rest. Watch round 12. Right hand on the chin caused blood to pour from Alis mouth. At no other time did Ali bleed like that from his mouth during the fight. Norton stated Ali jaw was broken in round 12 which correlates to that right hand and Alis bloody mouth.
ive got no idea when ali's jaw was broken but the fact it wasn't attended to right away does not mean it wasn't broken, a friend was complaining about his wrist hurting for months, then he broke it and went to hospital, basically the first thing they said after his x ray was 'why didn't you come the first time you broke it'
Pepe...I chased you off these boards months ago. You want me to slap you around again? No one posted more made up garbage than you.
