right now he is focused on unifying the MW Division, or at least facing Serigo, as Quillini will never fight him. But, he has offered to take on anyone from 154-168, its just that the takers are few and far between.
The WBA has said that the winner of GGG v Stevens will have to defend the title against the winner of Martin Murray v Garth Wood. I just hope that another shot at a title belt on HBO is a fight that "makes sense" for Murray's manager/promoter.
Basically, his trainer needs to stfu. Golovkin has not said any of these things its Abel who is like a stupid version of Angel Garcia. 168 talk is nonsense. Loads, I mean loads of good fights at 160. Barker, Murray, Martinez. If I were him I would take the Quillin fight. Based on Saturday's showing its an early win for the KO king.
GG needs to man up and speak for himself or tell his handlers and the media he can't handle bigger fighters.
It's looking like GGG wants to do what he can at 160, kinda holding out for Maravilla and possibly Murray (hopes on this for early next year as Martin is his mando - providing both win their next fights). After one or both of these, however, it looks increasingly likely that he'll have to go to 168 from a business POV. Thing is if he goes to 168 he's virtually cutting off the potentially lucrative 154 fights (even if he could make 154, people aren't looking for SMWs to take on JMWs), so I can understand some hesitation with regards to moving up. Seems like a Froch fight either late 2014 or early 2015 is a distinct possibility, however. This has the makings of a very special fight, providing GGG continues to win impressively.
Other fighters have moved up...What makes GG so precious?? GG shouldn't be fighting 154 fighters in the first place....lord knows he's fought enough of them already.
His best weight is MW. There's no reason at all why he shouldn't move up, and that's what I'd like to see happen, but it makes sense for him to prove himself at his best weight first. Anyways, we'll see - 2013 has brought Golovkin some recognition, but I'm hoping that there will be bigger challenges next year.
i like the froch fight but i can happen later. right now i do like him fighting at 160. there are so lots of fights there. so he can move up wen he can longer make the weight, i dont even think there is anything wrong with the fights hes taken so far accept for the ishida winner of murray/wood fight would be fine with me. mostly cuz i firmly believe in murray winning that. but alot of fights out there for him at 160 sergio would be great.. is he healthy yet when is he guna return? quillin unlikely hes on showtime but GGG isnt top rank is he? cant he fight on wutever network? barker/sturm winner
:yep His handlers did say he'd fight ANYBODY even at 168. If Broner can win titles in 3 different weight classes then GG should be able as well...i mean...since he's so much better.
I think he will, certainly Froch believes GGG is gonna fight at 168. Sadly we sometimes need to wait for these things. I'm told patience is a virtue. AS for GGG winning titles at 3 classes, well it's certainly not impossible, but let's see if he can get the MW lineal and maybe a belt a 168 first, perhaps? You're in too much of a hurry, people might start to mistake you for a Golovkin fan.
Please don't beat up Martinez or Quillin. Please move weight divisions. :rofl There's no reason to move up yet. People only go up a division when they can't safely make weight anymore or they've cleaned out the division or there's a super-fight to be made.
