Chris John is the longest-reigning active world titleholder in boxing, holding the WBA Featherweight belt. I am intrigued to see a Donaire vs John fight. John doesn't want to fight in the USA, so having Donaire vs John in Macau seems to make a lot of sense. Arum wants to open up the Asian market and this fight would help him do that. Throw in Shiming and Viloria into that card and it quickly becomes a great event.

I hope so but doubt it, over the last few years John exclusively fights bums.

Yeah but Chris John has a chance to get his biggest payday of his career and I don't think he will past it up.

It would be a great fight, close to 50/50.

Donaire takes an easy decision vs John. Dont see any reason why this fight cant happen.

Donaire Vs. John in that venue would be perfect.

this is a 50-50 fight. donaire doesn't have the offensive capability to trouble a good to elite defensive fighter.

Chris John took the Felix Sturm route with his career after getting a Draw here in the states, in what appeared to be a clear UD win for him.

In all honesty I would be surprised if he would fight on a Top Rank promoted fight (where they are pretty much a house favorite now in Macau) unless it is that he wants to cash out and finally retire.

BTW this fight would make Donaie vs. Rigondauex look like Alvarado vs Rios.

Exact type of fight Donaire needs for HBO to get the ball rolling again.

Are you making this up hypothetically or was there actually talk of this? (provided Vic Darchinyan is foiled in his quest for revenge)

No. When is the last time you saw John? His legs have gone. He is more of a flat-footed boxer/slugger now.
