FYI. Denis Boytsov (33-0, 26 KOs) will finally lace up the gloves for Team Sauerland. On November 23, the powerful heavyweight will premiere for his new team against WBO Asia Pacific Champion Alex Leapai (29-4-3, 24 KOs) at the brose Arena in Bamberg, Germany. Boytsov (27), currently ranked the number one contender by the WBO, has a good shot to meet the WBA and WBO Super Champion and IBF World Titleholder Wladimir Klitschko in the not too distant future if he gets past world-rated Leapai. However, coach Karsten Roewer hints that a bout against the 34-year-old from Australia will be no walk in the park for his prodigy. "You just have to take a look at his record and know that it's going to be a dangerous affair for Denis," said Roewer. "Leapai might not be the best boxer skill wise. Still, he is explosive and packs a punch. We have to be wary of those facts until the last bell to beat him." Boytsov takes his next opponent serious. "At the moment I don't think about the fact that a win over Leapai will lead to a world title shot. It is all about my next fight. I need to be victorious in Bamberg. Afterwards, I can take it from there," said the heavyweight, who now resides in Berlin. The main event in Bamberg will see IBF and RING Cruiserweight Champion Yoan Pablo Hernandez defending his titles against mandatory challenger Alexander Alekseev. Tickets for the big fight night at the brose Arena in Bamberg can be purchased at www.eventim.de and www.boxen.com.
Quote " has a good shot to meet the WBA and WBO Super Champion and IBF World Titleholder Wladimir Klitschko". If you excuse my French, but what the f**k has Boytsov done to earn a title shot?
Being screwed by Universum. Seriously screwed. They refused to let him fight, refused to let him out of contract and had his manager beaten up with iron bars. He was freed from contract a few months back after a protracted legal battle and has now signed with Sauerland. He's young enough that he might be able to salvage something of his career, but we'll have to wait and see if he's still got the hunger for it. That said, he's got a fair bit to prove before he's worthy of a title shot.
He has fought nothing but bums. Grabimir had better not give this bum a title shot for his wrestling belts. WLad has not excuse for jabbing and grabbing bums anymore. I thought he would be grabbing and holding Pulev next???
stop the hate man, its destroying your life derrick aka Kurtis BigUnit Anderson on FB at least wlad doesn't hold in EVERY fight like hopkins if hes fought nothing but bums, then blacks are awful at boxing as most of wlads victims have been your black heroes
Well, yes, if you extract the hatred. Though quite bizarrely he's the WBO #1 (therefore mando) so it ain't really Wlads fault if it gets made.
For what it's worth......Leapai will be Denis' best win. And Denis has all but had a standing mandate for a title shot since the WBO began artificially ranking him with his euro level journeyman wins. That said.....nothing wrong with Boystov as a stay busy defense for Wladimir. He's close to as good as Potevetkin, and Wlad was forced into a grab fest, and Denis might have a bit more power in his shots and could make it interesting. Although, Ding was able to stun Denis with a R hand, and Wlads would likely starch him.:yep
