Why is Mayweather a household name?

    Most people I know who don't even know about Boxing know who Mayweather and Pacquiao are. Just like that.

    But why? What makes Mayweather so famous? His trash talk? ALL the celebs see this guys fights, that includes Mark Wahlberg, Mike Tyson (of course), Madonna, etc.

    He is a household name because even the haters who in reality secretly love him bring him up for no reason just to question why he is so popular.

    He's relatively unknown in Europe outside boxing circles. If you asked 20 people on the street in Germany, Greece or Italy, maybe 3-4 would say that they've heard of him. Same goes for Pacquiao.

    its because hes black and there is no other elite black boxers so he is their great black hope

    imagine if there was no floyd all the blacks would have is a load of B/C level boring to watch feather fisted bums like alexander, bradley, dawson lol
