i feel the barker - sturm fight will e very close and home advantage would swing it for either man, **** money, barker should have had a homecoming at the o2 arena after that brilliant performance against geale, hearn seems to fail a alot n getting his men home advantage, sturm is a proven great fighter its gonna be very tough

and I think Purdy will lose against Bundu, so dont really see the pint, bundu is a level above purdy imo

Anyone stupid enough to blame Barker for taking 3x the money on offer is a cretin.

Isn't Barker getting paid a shed load more for fighting in Germany? I'm also pretty sure that there is an immediate rematch clause for a fight in UK in the contract should he lose.

He's getting a lot more money while still fighting a very winnable fight, he's won his title now it's time to make some money to keep his family for years to come.

Normally I would have Critizised Hearn for sending Barker abroad instead of putting his hands in his pockets to get it on over here but I understand the money offered was almost life changing, plus they got the rematch clause for a uk fight so far enough on this occasion.

    As for Lee Purdy...who cares?

One trip to Germany can set the man up for life, Strum made it clear without the fight happening in Germany, its doesnt happen and his team would withdraw from purse bids.

So BArker gets set for life by travelling to Germany, or fight dont happen or at best gets paid peanuts for home advantage.

Being world champ means a lot but setting your family up for life has to mean more.

Its a shame when you don't know much about the boxing game but my advice to you is hang in there and read boxers biographies and how the money system works in boxing and I believe you will get it, in the end.

    Good move by Eddie imo.

Barker is bar Froch his top fighter and he is going to enhance Barkers status with this one. Sturm is on the slide whilst winning the title gives a fighter an extra 30 percent and im sure Darren will have more then enough to see this one through.

As someone pointed out above if Barker does lose he has options on a return at home. A win over Sturm in Germany will enhance Darrens status dramatically and once he gets through this fight he has a number of options.

A Martinez rematch would be possible and he also has possible domestic dust ups with Murray Macklin and Billy Joe to think about.

As for Purdy, what can he do? Purdys career was rebuilt last year after the loss to Colin Lynes with Wins over Adnan and that undefeated Argentinean bum.

He cant drop Purdy back down to English title level because lets be honest that was where he was operating before the Alexander fight.

I think Purdy will lose however

Barker is getting a million for fighting Sturm so sounds like good business to me.. Hail king Hearn Barker is probably kissing his boots with a rematch clause, lose in germany get a million, chance to retain title in uk..

    NO brainer Thread starter..

Don't think the Martinez rematch will ever happen, Martinez is down to his last couple of fights and he's going get as much money from them as he can, Martinez vs Floyd is more likely to happen IMO.

definately mate, it's a good fight, winnable and sets his family up comfortably while having a rematch clause at home aswell, I don't possibly see how this is a bad thing.

Are you not understanding hearn doesn't make the decision?? He puts the offers on the table and darren decides... german tv put up some big money and hearn can't control what sky will pay...
