Both come across as deeply unlikeable - Groves smug and bullying, Froch arrogant and self-righteous. And people wonder why neither are popular - public affection is usually nothing to do with ethnicity, passports, or trophies, it's "who would you enjoy a pint with"?! I digress, none of it affects the fight, which I am looking forward to enormously. I can't help but feel that Groves' "mind-games" etc are irrelevant. Although Froch is at his worst against trickier types, I think he'll have too much for Groves. I anticipate a cagey opening, maybe Groves picking up some rounds whilst not causing harm, then it all going a bit "Bute-esque". Froch will realise that Groves is unlikely to KO him and just pile in. Groves might counter or evade a few forays, but Froch only needs to get through once - he's capable of attacking with enough ferocity that Groves won't recover and will spend the rest of the fight just trying to survive.
Groves was very clever when talking about the sparring. Made sure to mention himself he got dropped and like it meant nothing and getting dropped in sparring is not a big deal.
I must be in the minority here... I actually thought some of groves one liners were quite funny .. The bit were the middleweights were split on them and he chirped up with "so that's 2?? That's 50% not 99.9 then carl" The way he was leanin over jus starin at froch as well u can tell he loves been a proper wind up merchant haha
Froch seems a little irritated but I wouldn't read too much into that, though I do think Groves is a very live opponent, at 4/1 I will prob chuck something on him. Really interested in the fight but both are quite unlikeable so no matter who wins I'll sit back and enjoy watching a smarmy ****er get knocked out.
What show were you watching :rofl In favour of Froch? Like Froch asking to cut out the part where he didnt know what was happening :think
Groves's confidence is misplaced. Like a previous comment made here, Froch has dealt with better pure boxers than Groves and i think George will unravel when its put on him and it will be.
I don't particularly like Froch the man, but as a boxer I have the utmost respect. His CV is incredible. The notion that George Groves can intimidate him is laughable, looked like Froch just wanted to maul him there and then
Froch says he dropped Groves in sparring, then Groves says yeah you did then I got back up, two days I beat the **** out of you in sparring. Froch says, sparring don't prove anything, why mention it in the first place ! Groves to beat Froch IMO he has already Won the mind games.
