The winner of the Stevens-Golovkin fight will be the 2013 Fighter of the Year

Unless the Stevens-Golovkin fight ends in a draw, it will very much determine who is the Fighter of the Year.

Keep in mind, the winner of this fight would have 4 impressive wins in 2013.

Mayweather will be fighter of the year surely due to his outstanding win against Canelo.

 

Golovkin might get the FOTY award after dismantling Stevens, but if we have some kind of major upset it's hard to believe they would give the award to the American.

Cause the way he beat his opponents was impressive, but not the quality of them.
That way you can even consider Wilder for it.


There are much more deserving guys out there.

I'm as much of a Golovkin fan as anyone.
Having said that, I think Rigondeaux's performance and win over Donaire is more impressive than any of GGG's wins this year.
Golovkin has been a massive favorite in all his fights. Rigo unified titles in his 12th pro fight against a top 5 p4p fighter.

i dnt think anyone comes close really, great fight against a guy who has since proven to be very good, and a clear win against a top 5 p5p fighter

 

Gah..I don't know how many times I have to say this. For me it's either Stevenson or Kovalev. Both have come from outside the top 10 at LHW and simply torn through it.

If all goes according to plan after Nov 30th each will have 4 wins by KO or TKO this year, including 5 or 6 top ten fighters between them (including 1 champ and 1 ex champ each). Both will have won a title and Stevenson has become lineal champ at 175.

How many other guys in any other division can claim 4 fights - let alone 4 brutal stoppages (-except GGG but he can't claim to have faced 2 or 3 of the best in his division).

For me Nov 30th could be the day that decides which is most worthy, but I think that these 2 are a country mile ahead of anyone else in the sport in terms of both activity and achievement.

 

I don't... he merely survived against Provodnikov, and was good against JMM.
By far not enough to challenge a guy like Floyd who dominated both fights for instance.

 

i think bradley handled jmm as easy as floyd handled canelo and given that jmm was a top p4p fighter that win is way more impressive, domination is one thing to look at but you gt to look at who both guys have dominated, the ghost fight was a complete mismatch really for floyd

 

Outstanding? With Alvarez standing still against the ropes, not even covering up properly, Mayweather landing his best shots, and still doesn't even hurting him? With Alvarex huffing-puffing around the ring, gasping for air already from the 3-4th round? With Alvarez not doing anything else but looking worse than the bum Guerrero, skill-wise and physical-wise?
Gimme a break.
There are at least 5 fighters that have had a better year. Golovkin, Garcia, Bradley, W Klitschko, Rigondeaux, the list goes on.
